Creative Writing Process Piece Reflectio The piece that I choose to display the creative writing process was my Eleven remodel called, Eighteen going on Four. This was a remodel from Sandra Cisneros’s piece Eleven. She displayed such an abundant amount of emotions in her piece which is something that I aspired in my own piece. At first I was very hesitant about using another writer's piece of model after my own, it almost felt like cheating. Of course I love to use other’s writing to inspire me but remodeling a whole piece after another seems strange. The Colosseum is a stone amphitheater, and it was the first building of its type (Sporre). It was constructed during the Flavian dynasty under emperor Vespasian in 70 A.D., and it was completed 10 years later during the reign of Vespasian’s son, Titus. The Colosseum was originally called the Flavian Amphitheater because it was built by the Flavian dynasty. However, the name was changed because the Colosseum was built next to the Colossus of Nero. The Colossus of Nero was an enormous statue, and it was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The statue was torn down, but the name stuck around. Lastly, Venerable Bede famous epigram that states, “ as long as the Colossus stands, so shall Rome; when the Colossus falls, Rome shall fall;…

Throughout her multitude of works, author Flannery O’Connor employs the primary use a descriptive style of writing, with her works illustrating religion. Religion makes an appearance throughout her works, but for all the wrong reasons. Without context, religion is often seen as a positive, but under the hands of O’Connor, religion is depicted as being manipulated and used for crime. This can be visualized within her three works, “A Good Man is Hard to Find,” “The Life You Save May Be Your Own,” and “Good Country People,” as within those short stories, religion is introduced and used in a twisted manner. Although religion is a central component to her descriptive writing style, O’Connor also frequently utilizes as elements of that style, foreshadowing,…

Looking around, Uriah did not see anything in particular that caught his attention and did not know why she wanted him to stop; as far as he could tell, there was not anything they needed there. And, his mother had not gotten off the wagon to go do her business or said anything about eating lunch. So, after bringing the horses and wagon to a complete halt, he turned to Charity and asked, “Why did you want me to stop?”…

As Fin walked along the street the leaves of the oak trees shone like patches of blue velvet, but when he stopped still nothing shimmered. The waves refused to move. The glow of the city still seeped into the morning sky, forever. He felt he must be dreaming, and yet he was sure he wasn't dreaming because everything felt so real. Surely his brain was not powerful enough to create such a masterful illusion. Or was it? He felt his head imploding just trying to figure it…

From the beginning of our writing careers, we have been preached to about the dos’s and don’ts’s of writing. In grammar school, we were taught not to use the word ‘I’ and to always write in the third person. Breaking such rules would have been considered taboo. Now as we embark on a new journey in our lives, college, such rules do not always apply as strictly. While the rules reminisce in our minds from grade school, we do not always have to adhere to them. Though I do not believe there is a “correct” way of writing, I do believe there are both good and bad ways to go about it.…

I felt expelled and exiled, sitting in a room filled only with a bed. White walls which painted no imagination, no hope just emptiness; yet they still assured me I was meant to be here. Every day was the same as the last, every memory I captured had slowly escaped. I was considered dangerous, vile and out of control; these words constantly surrounded me, swirling around in the echoes of the halls. 15 years I have been here, and still not once has my voice box being strained. Everyday new comers are filling the halls with recent experiences, these are the only colour these halls ever hold, the only colour we are ever able to grasp and use to paint our own ideas of community; they enable us oldies to once again imagine. Soon enough the halls go back to plain white and emotionless passages and so to do my imaginations, the images that i had held slowly fade over and over again until i am left with nothing. This only reminded me of what was familiar.…
