On Monday April 15 2013, which was Patriot Day, an atrocity happened in Boston, United States. As everyone already knew, it was the Boston Marathon Bombing. The annual Boston Marathon bombing started just like other years, without any clue of the calamity. The marathon began as usual and horde of crowds gather along the sidewalk, cheering for their families and friends. The contestants endured the tiredness and headed towards the finish line. A spontaneous chant of "Go, Go!" bursted out as the runners moved closer and closer towards the ending. But just then, a bomb was released on Boylston Street, near the finish line. Many people screamed, and the air was filled with dirt and gases.…
On September 11th, 2001, it was a day as Franklin Delano Roosevelt said about the attack on Pearl Harbor, “A Date that will live in infamy”, in that America had suffered the worst attack since Pearl Harbor. It was attacked by terrorists from al-Qaeda, which was planned by their leader, Osama Bin Laden. 19 terrorists hijacked 4 airplanes and crashed them into the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and in a farm in Pennsylvania. Close to 3,000 innocent people lost their lives to these heinous attacks. There were people who had recollection of where were they during this event and remembered the heartbreak and the horror of this attack.…
As soon as I asked my dad about the 9-11-2001 tragic event, he has recollected his memory of this day. He told me that he and my mom were traveling in a suburban train to attend Mother Mary’s novena at the famous Mahim church in Bombay (Present Mumbai) on that day. He had a habit of reading a local daily called “Mid-Day” while traveling in local trains to get rid of the noisy and boring commute. That day, on 9-11-2001 too he bought this daily. He was terrified by seeing the pictures and breaking news about the suicide terrorist attack on the twin towers in New York. This attack has brought down the landmark twin world trade centers and almost 3000 innocent people have lost their life in the tragic event. He remembered that two planes were used…
The world did stop for a moment as Aisha Hinds said, “I'm a New Yorker. I was there during 9/11, and I saw how, not only New York City stopped for a moment, we all took an inhale and exhale at the same time - the world united at that time, and it changed my life. I think millions of people were forever changed.” She’s right it did change people’s lives forever along with destroying their livelihood, but it also changed things in different ways too. The effects of 9/11 did not only affect the United States of America (U.S.A) and New York but the whole world. In this discussion of 9/11 this paper will further peoples understanding of how these attacks did change the world.…
I chose to address this prompt in an imaginative form as I was inspired by the story of the child and man that lost their lives in the Boston Bombings. This event had a strong impact on me and my awareness that bad things do happen to good people. My imaginative piece was written as a poem by the man who died in the bombings. I wrote this poem in the first person and in current tense to convey a sense of pain and suffering in this dying process he experienced and had to go through. This poem is aimed at the horrible people who did this and they should know what they did and how it affected people. It also could help society realise how bad this event was and how because of the actions of cruel people occurrences like these do happen. Now because of these heartless souls someone else’s life will never be the same. Because of these actions someone is now missing a son, a brother, a grandson, a husband and a friend that they can never get back or see again. My purpose of this piece was to move the audience and to educate the people about the experiences of this treacherous event. I decided to discuss the process and the emotions of what the man was going through after the bomb had hit. I said ‘events flashing before my eyes’ to make that connection to the myth that when you die you see your whole…
September 11, 2001. A day no American will ever forget. It was a day that this nation realized that we as Americans are not invincible. We can be hurt. Planes flew into both the north and south towers of the world trade center. The towers collapsed killing thousands of people. This event has been not only terrifying, but it has also been insightful. In my English IV class, we read multiple articles that were published after 9/11. These articles gave us insight by looking into the historical significance as well as the memories of that terrible day.…
Now more than ever, in a time of anti-Muslim hysteria it is important to learn from and to consider especially the events…
One day in English, we were asked to talk about a life changing incident in our lives. I have had this assignment before but I was to sad to talk about such a subject. We go around the circle. People talk about their golden goal in a soccer game or their first job. All they talked about were happy things. It was my turn.…

German troops started entering Lidice by the hundreds, we had never seen this before. The Gestapo started ransacking our house and looking for anything suspicious. Then they just left, nobody said anything. everyone was confused, Why would they just leave like that? If only i had known that they didn't leave they were only waiting. (after the funeral of Heindrich Hitler ordered Karl Frank that the small community lidice would be wiped out as punishment) On June 9th we were all sleeping in our bedrooms when we were woken up by the sound of trucks driving in, german soldiers broke into the house and ordered us to go to the village square. My youngest Bazil was crying and i knew something was terribly wrong. They told me to go to one side of the square while my children and my wife had to go to the other side, i was reluctant and screaming, they couldn't do this! My oldest daughter was screaming “dad, dad” but i couldn't do anything, they were pushing me farther away and i lost sight of them. They locked us into Horak farm. I knew it was over the second they broke me away from my family. My fingers were clenching and i was so angry i felt helpless. I knew i was going to be the first to die because i am jewish. I tried to hide it as best as i could when the soldiers always came into town but i knew they would find out somehow. When the more german soldiers started to watch us i saw some of the men whispering to each other. I stared at one of the…

On September 11, 2001 a group Islamic extremists hijacked planes and flew them into the two tallest buildings in New York City resulting in the death of 2,753 innocent people. As the buildings crumbled, many people in an attempt to survive; jumped out of windows to escape the raging fire inside. Smoke poured from the skyscrapers, and firefighters, rushed to save all that they could, while families worried sick over their loved ones. The people killed were just ordinary people, trying to make a living, working to support themselves or their family. Such a horrific event has had lasting impacts on everyone. It has impacted the security of the U.S, how Muslims are viewed and the general day to day struggle the families who lost a loved one…
I will remember that day as the day that I will use as an example of why the world needs to change. I remember that day as the moment I can remember to allow myself to cry. I will remember that day as the day I realized what the world had become. I will remember that day as the day I became angry at the world for allowing someone to do something of that sort. I will remember that day as the day I realized how hurt others must feel if I couldn't even hold myself together. I will remember that day as the day I took no pictures and didn’t write about my experience immediately after. I will remember that as the day that I took the harshness of reality in, and realized how much I yearned to change it. I will remember that day as the day that I felt more helpless than ever before. I will remember that day as the day that I sat in an empty car for ten minutes trying to control myself. I will remember that day as the day I will never forget. I will remember that day as the day that broke me, in order to make me. I will remember that day as the start of the story I will tell others when they ask why I am doing what I am doing. I will remember that day as the second most memorable day of my life, the second most emotionally painful day of my life. I will remember that day as the day I decided I will not let the world become worse than it is. I will remember that day…
