Saving Private Ryan Analytical Essay

Steven Spielberg has a fantastic way of making the viewer feel a wide array of emotions throughout his works and this one doesn’t differ with an incredibly war drama that really portrays parts of war and the emotions that are really carried with the serving men. Saving Private Ryan is the fantastic story following through the eyes Captain John Miller (Tom Hanks) beginning with the invasion of Omaha beach on June 6, 1944 World War II. Omaha beach was a heavily fortified beach with Nazi German defense off the coasts of Normandy, France where the movie truly captures the sheer brutality and gruesomeness of war. Meanwhile a switch of scenery to the United States General is informed that during the invasion three out of four brothers have been killed in action in the Ryan family and that the mother is set to receive all three telegrams and folded flags on the same day, he also learns that the fourth brother Paratrooper Private James Ryan
Capitan Miller then unfortunately has to inform Private Ryan of the loss of all three of his brothers and that he will be returning home to his family. Devastated by the news of the losses Ryan decides that it wouldn’t be fair to leave and that he is going to stay and defend the bridge with “the only brothers that I have left”. Capitan Miller than decides to take charge and defend the bridge with the impending German assault on the bridge. The attack commences and they successfully defend and destroy the bridge to not allow German forces to cross though this though most of the men in the team are killed including Capitan Miller.
This movie is a rollercoaster of emotions and Spielberg really captures the depictions of war as well as the internal conflicts of soldiers that were involved in the
