I watch the dead trees outside of my window. While it was still light outside the moon was shining bright. It was hanging so low that it looked like it was tangled in the branches of the high tree’s. I heard the doorbell ring and echo through the house. I padded down the stairs with my robe wrapped tightly to keep the cold out. When I opened the door two girls bustled into the house without invitation. “Dot, Patty what are you doing here?”I asked with a deep frown. “Pearl, it’s October 15th, 2015 nighttime and your parents aren’t home, perfect time for a seance.” Dot said her eyes glowing. I looked down at the box held tightly in Patty’s hands. On the cover printed boldly where the words Seance to the dead. I rolled …show more content…
my eyes last time I did something like this Patty, Dot, and I winded up with very unhappy parents. “This is stupid you guys seances and ghosts aren’t even real.” I put an arrogant expression to try and hide how whenever Dot and Patty get thinking it terrifies me. “It is not stupid!” Patty shrieked “You’re just scared.” I opened my mouth to deny it but even I couldn’t believe myself.
Instead I crossed my arms and glared at them. Dot enjoyed my unease and began to chant. “Scaredy Cat, Scaredy Cat, Sca-” “Fine, I’ll do it.” As soon as the words came out of my mouth I wished I could take them back. But that option was long gone. Now I would be talking to the dead. I felt a thrill of terror go up my spine.
I feel so stupid, I thought. Dot, Patty, and I were sitting cross legged in a circle around the seance board in the living room. Normally I would be fine with this but Dot and Patty always take things to the next level. We were all wearing kitchen aprons to keep the seance spirit. I frowned at the apron I was wearing it had a Kiss the Cook slogan but I wouldn’t be to happy if a ghost came out and kissed me!
“Okay my grandma told me to put your left hand on the board.” Dot whispered to us.
I hesitated at first this really did not feel like a good idea. But after two looks from Dot and Patty I gently placed my hand on the board. Suddenly I felt as if a cold hand was reaching up and grabbing my heart. I took at deep breath and steadied my breathing the scance had …show more content…
begun.
The board began to rattle.
I felt my fingers vibrating along with it. The rattle changed into a violent shake. The board flashed new colors. It was lighting up the room and shaking it. All the while I felt like something in me was getting pulled into seance. Then as if someone said an order it stopped.
Everything froze including myself. I couldn’t move I had to fight to even breath I was trapped. I heard a long blow of wind outside but I could have swore that it was someone sighing. Despite the cold temperature I began to
sweat.
I squirmed were I sat uneasy and restless. I felt that I was slowly regaining control over my body. Dot and Patty were still as stiff as a board.
I yanked my hand back no longer caring if Dot and Patty would call me a coward. I looked down and saw a white vapor slowly seeping out of the game. Goosebumps pricked on my arms.
I pulled back Patty’s hand. Her skin was ice cold. I gasped and let go but she seemed to be waking from her trance.
“Get Dot’s hand off to before it’s too late.” Patty said, but her voice was different disembodied and tired.
I reached out to take her hand off but something had changed. Dot no longer buzzed happiness but instead doom. Her eyes were all black all pupil. A scream erupted from Patty’s throat. Dot blinked up at us. She reminded me of a doll, but a broken one. Tears were streaming down my face.
I couldn’t handle this I ran to the phone. My hand clasped the handle I punch in 911. On the other side of the phone was static. Then I felt a cold breath going through the phone. I smash the the phone on the kitchen window. It shattered clashing to the floor. 7 years of bad luck.
I felt like my lungs were getting crushed. I was to scared to terrified. I heard a crack of thunder ripping outside. I heard Patty's scream. I ran to where I heard it. Patty never does well in storms.
“Come on let’s get somewhere more safe.” I yelled in panic.
Patty nodded her head. Her eyes were glistening probably from crying. We climbed up the staircase. It was windy and rainy. At the top, we stopped. A curtain moved into the window, signaling another presence.
The last thing I remember is a voice saying.
“You have company.”
And we vanished never to be see again!
