Fall scavenger hunt - It doesn’t matter what age your kids are, this can be a lot of fun. You can do this at a local park, in your yard or on a nature trail nearby. Create a list of things that you could reasonably find wherever you will be doing the scavenger hunt. You could create copies for each child or have just one master list that everyone works on together. Things like different colored leaves, acorns, pine cones, various animals, etc. can be on your fall scavenger hunt list. Some kids may be the collecting type, so you may want a backpack if it’s not a problem for them to take anything they find home. You could also take pictures of the things you find so that you can look back over them after you get home. This digital age seems to make it easier for those who live in the same house to feel so far apart from each other. A nice nature walk can really change that, at least for an hour or two. Make sure you dress appropriately for the weather and take something to drink. Some trails can be long or even a bit rigorous! I have found that having a backpack with a water bottle and maybe some protein bars can be good if you are going any distance at all. These times we all talk and point things out to each other and generally have fun while getting some good
