1.1 Identify the different reasons people communicate.
Daily communication can help with a child’s needs, dislike and likes. Exchanging information between parents, a teacher or pre-school will help you form a partnership gaining reassurance and trust to share thoughts and ideas relevant to do with their child. There are many ways of communication to have in place for parents and guardians:
- To inform them of the month ahead (newsletter), this can be e-mailed, hand given or be put up on a notice board/website.
-Any reminders to be sent out via text message and also any photos with parents’ permission that will help the carer through their day and put they mind at ease can be sent this way.
- In case of an emergency most parents are contactable via their mobile phone if not contact the child’s next of kin.
It is important a child can communicate to who is in there setting during day to day life, Tending to their needs in the way they choose to communicate. If you can understand the child this will encourage the child’s trust and giving the child lots of praise and reassurance will help maintain the relationship making them also feel comfortable in the setting.
Communication with babies can start with as little as facial expressions, greeting them with a smile and hand gestures.

A positive relationship should always encourage to help the child or young person thrive and meet their needs, goals on their personal plan and succeed in achievements. Effectively communicating with all the carers around an individual puts everyone at ease when the child or young person is going through a transition.
