School Management System Project Report
1.1 Project Background

Like many other organisations which need a proper and functional system to help them solve their daily problems, same goes to educational industry. Since long time ago, parents are facing problem keeping track on their children’s education and behaviour in school.
In this project, the School Management System can be used by the parents to keep track on their children’s academic performances on a daily basis. The fact that some parents could not make time to attend their children’s education problems is undeniable. Whenever the student commits a wrongdoing, the teacher will do a remark but some parents tend to ignore it. Thus, this causes them to not being alert of what is happening in their children’s school life.

To analyse the teachers and parents requirement for the School Management System. ii. To design and develop the School Management System. iii. To test the School Management System.

1.4 Scope

The target users of this proposed system are the SK Kelanahan’s parents, teachers and its administrator. The system is used to store and retrieve the users’ data from the database as required. It allows the teachers to send important information and administrator to produce an announcement of the upcoming event in school to the parents and notify the parents about the update through Short Message Service (SMS). Thus, description of modules is constructed and attached in APPENDIX A.

1.5 Expected Result

School Management System should be able to allow the user to upload, update and delete the information. The important task that this system is expected to do for the user is to update about the student’s academic performances, behaviour and upcoming activities in school. Therefore, the expected outcome of this system is summarised as below:
i. The administrator can generate a report on the upcoming event that will be held in the school. ii. The teacher can mark student attendance, make student behavioural remarks and input student examination

Managing and controlling the activities of the school is considered as a complex task due to the reason that there is a lot of work that need to be ensured of its proper functioning and it is very time consuming. With this School Management System, it not only can help towards a paperless environment but as well as to improve the relationship between the parents and the teacher as it needs them to communicate frequently about the student’s academic performances and behaviour in order to guide the students to become a better person. Other than that, this system also allows the parents to have some access to know more about their children's life during their school hour since the system will alert the parents whenever there is an update about the student’s result, student’s behaviour and details of the future occasions.
