sure that they are kept at the right temperature so the food stays safe to eat. The foods that are perishable need to be refrigerated or frozen right away. If the food looks bad or smells bad it you need to throw it away. Also if you are not sure if something is good or not then be safe and throw it away.
When you are handling food you need to make sure that you wash your hands and keep your area clean.
When you are cooking food it is important to make sure that you cook meat thoroughly. There are illnesses that come from food such as Salmonella and E. Coli 0157:H7. These are just two things that you can get from not storing or cooking food thoroughly. There are places that you can go and check the information on foods. Places like CDC.Gov and foodsafety.Gov are a good place to start looking on information that you might need. They will give you information over storage of foods and the proper temperature to cook them so they are cooked thoroughly. They will also give you the nutritional values of different foods for you and your
family.
These sources and others are there to help you decide what is right for you and for your family. You need to watch which ones to trust and which ones not to trust. There are ones that are misleading and will give false information. It is important to check these out and make sure that they are giving you the information that you feel that you can trust. You can do this by comparing them with others. You can check news stories from all around the world that what is going on with people because they did not know how to handle and store food correctly.
