PROTEIN ARTICLE RESEARCH
Proteins are a part of every cell, tissue, and organ in our bodies. The protein we eat is broken down by amino acids that are later used to replace proteins in our bodies. These proteins include meats, poultry, fish, eggs, nuts, seeds, milk and milk products. Proteins are made up of amino acids. There are 20 different amino acids that join together to make up all types of protein. A complete protein source is one that provides all of the essential amino acids. These are high quality proteins like animal based foods. Meat, poultry, fish, eggs, milk and cheese are complete protein sources. There are 20 different amino acids commonly found in proteins. Each different protein contains a different number, combination and order of these amino acids. Complete proteins provide all the essential amino acids. Incomplete proteins are ones that are low in one or more of the essential amino acids. Complementary proteins are two or more incomplete protein sources that together provide the adequate amounts of all the essential amino acids.

A deficiency occurs with a general lack of food and nutrients. In small children a pure protein deficiency can occur. This is called protein-energy malnutrition (PEM) also can refer to a continuum of conditions ranging from pure protein deficiency called kwashiorkor, to an energy deficiency called marasmus. Both of these deficiencies can affect the growth of the body and skin cells because structural proteins are not available to build on. An overconsumption can lead to kidney problems, high blood pressure, and sometimes even

Proteins - Proteins are chains of amino acids. In general, proteins may be structural proteins used to build tissues, they may be enzymes that mediate chemical reactions, or they may be hormones. Examples of proteins would be channel proteins in cell membranes, collagen protein in the skin, actin and myosin in the muscles, and hemoglobin in red blood cells. Types of dietary sources would be, meat, milk, (both of which are not pure proteins, but are good sources of protein), eggs, grains and beans.…

Amino acids are biologically organic compounds containing amine and carboxylic acid functional groups, usually along with a side-chain specific to each amino acid. The elements that are key of an amino acid are carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen. There are about 500 different kinds of amino acids found but we recognize 23 of the amino acids that are known, they are classified into three groups, essential semi-essential, and non-essential. Each amino acid has unique characteristics arising from the size, shape, solubility, and ionization properties of its R group. In the form of proteins, amino acids comprise the second-largest component of human muscles, cells and other tissues, water being first. Outside proteins, amino…

Proteins are made up of groups of twenty different amino acids. In the average adult, twelve of those acids are made in the body, and the other eight we have to ingest through our food. Those eight are called the essential amino acids. Amino acids cannot be stored in the body, so we need to eat foods regularly that contain the essential amino acids. We get most of our high quality proteins from meat and dairy products (Trefil & Hazen, 2013).…

The human body cannot make eight of the twenty needed amino acids, therefore, they must be consumed as part of the diet. The other types of amino acids may be produced by the body, but they require components of other consumed proteins. Proteins in the diet can be broken down into amino acids by the digestive system and rebuilt into needed proteins by cells of the body. They perform many functions including forming structures, forming enzymes, and use as an energy source, with excess energy being stored as fat.…
