While reading the 7 habits book by Sean Covey. We have read and learned about 7 different habits that can help you be a better person. The habits are, be proactive, begin with the end the end in mind, put first things first, think win-win, seek first to understand then to be understood, synergieze, and sharpen the saw. Two of the these habits were tested by each eighth grade English class at Palmetto Middle. Think win-win and Seek First to understand than to be understood can be very useful in every day life.
Habit 4 in Sean Coveys The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens is labeled as "Think Win-Win." He writes in the book "Win-Win is a belief that everyone can win," (Covey 155). He also writes, "I won't step on you, but I won't be your dormant, either," (Covey 155). He is saying we care about other people and want to see them succeed, but we also care about our selfs and want to see our selfs succeed. He writes in the book, "In other words, listen first, talk second," (Covey 167). If we don't listen then how can we possibly understand what the person is saying. There are many different ways we can listen to someone but not be fully listening. Some examples are, spacing out, and word listening. Spacing out is when someone is talking to us and we aren't listening because our minds are in la la land. Word listening is when we are listening to the the person talk but we aren't paying attention to there body language or their feelings.
