a. In my second speech, I think I did a good job in researching the subject which was Age Discrimination. I found five articles dealing with this subject. Some showing statistics and examples to make it relatable to the audience members that were present. My facial expressions was pleasant. I kept good eye contact with the audience members. When I was speaking, my voice got louder when I stated key words like elderly, discrimination, and older. I felt my audience attention and support.
2. What challenges did I encounter in my second speech?
a. The challenges I faced in this speech was my nervousness in a number of areas. When I took the first take, I messed up on serval words, forgot to show the audience at the end of the speech, and was under four-five minute time. The second dilemma I faced was the Smartphone I was using stopped in the middle of my speech for lack of memory space. Another challenge I dealt with was talking to fast because of the fear of running out of time. Additionally, I had the fear of something going wrong with the recording and the ability to upload the speech to D2L. After the audience gave me their …show more content…
feedback the all left and still was not sure if the video would upload.
3. What feedback did I receive from some of the audience members?
a.
Of the eight members in the audience five were senior citizens. The five members had all experienced age discrimination in their lives. For example, my neighbor was forced to retired once he reached the age of sixty-five year olds. Even though he was healthy and wanted to continue to work. Another example was my aunt getting an IPhone. Due to her not being technical savvy, she was at a disadvantage in full use of the phone. When asking the salesman to teach her how to use the phone, she felt like she was bothering him and had no patience for her being elderly and not technical savvy. My audience members appreciated listening to me talking about age discrimination and felt that it was a subject that needed more exposure as more and more people are living longer they should be discriminated
against.
4. Did I meet the necessary requirements for my speech?
a. I feel as though I met the necessary requirements. Two weeks before I could video the speech, I had to get the approval from my professor. After receiving the approval from my professor, I created the outline of my speech. Subsequently, every day after work I would practice a little bit each day with my dad timing me. I contact all my audience members and gave them enough notice to be present for my speech. I required RSVP from each of them. I invited more than eight because if anyone could not make it, I was prepared to meet the minimum requirement of eight adult audience members. I think I did a job well done within the time frame and met all the necessary requirements.
