Some showing statistics and examples to make it relatable to the audience members that were present. My facial expressions was pleasant. I kept good eye contact with the audience members. 2. What challenges did I encounter in my second speech?
a. The challenges I faced in this speech was my nervousness in a number of areas. When I took the first take, I messed up on serval words, forgot to show the audience at the end of the speech, and was under four-five minute time. The second dilemma I faced was the Smartphone I was using stopped in the middle of my speech for lack of memory space. Another challenge I dealt with was talking to fast because of the fear of running out of time. Additionally, I had the fear of something going wrong with the recording and the ability to upload the speech to D2L. After the audience gave me their

Of the eight members in the audience five were senior citizens. The five members had all experienced age discrimination in their lives. For example, my neighbor was forced to retired once he reached the age of sixty-five year olds. Even though he was healthy and wanted to continue to work. Another example was my aunt getting an IPhone. Due to her not being technical savvy, she was at a disadvantage in full use of the phone. When asking the salesman to teach her how to use the phone, she felt like she was bothering him and had no patience for her being elderly and not technical savvy. My audience members appreciated listening to me talking about age discrimination and felt that it was a subject that needed more exposure as more and more people are living longer they should be discriminated

Johnson uses several key elements of a great speech to target his audience. One of the key elements he uses are powerful metaphors and paints vivid imagery. In the speech at the University of Michigan, Johnson says several metaphors and vivid imagery. One of the first is “I have come today from the turmoil of your capital to the tranquility of you campus to speak about the future of your country.” He is making a comparison to the nation's capital to the university campus and connecting to the audience. He goes on to say, The Great Society rests on abundance and liberty for all. This gives the Great Society a physical feature that can be felt, seen, and weighed. He is describing a solid foundation, which most believe is important for all things…

The Cornerstone Speech was a speech held by the American Vice president of southernmost states of the USA, Alexander Stephens at the Athenaeum in Savannah, Georgia, on March 21, 1861. The speech was delivered on the basis of the USA's desire to put an end to slavery. However, Stephens and the southern states believed that the economy was based on slave labor and therefore an end to slavery be bad for the US economy. The language of the speech is very old-fashioned and difficult to understand because it is from 1861. The speech appeal to the southern citizens, who are like Stephens believes that slavery is good for the American society.…

It was very obvious that she was experienced in the art of public speaking and seemed very confident throughout her delivery. Her posture we very professional yet, remained relaxed making it seem very natural. Ms.Lafaive did not move around the stage at all but was often gesturing toward her charts and graphs, sort of letting the audience know what was relevant to what she was currently saying. There where a few times throughout the speech that I could not hear the speaker well, but it was more due to the loudness of the audience than the loudness of the speakers voice. Overall though, her tone, pitch and voice variety was engaging. Ms. Lafaive was dressed very appropriately; wearing neutral, almost plain colors, she looked very professional. Her eye contact was slightly sporadic and she looked at her graphs…

This was the easiest speech, considering that all I had to do was rant about the story I was telling. For this speech, I didn’t feel that nervous because it was something that I remember vividly and nothing could go wrong with it. Moving on to the next speech, which was the informative speech, I felt nervousness once again. The fact that we had to research everything well and make sure the sources were cited correctly, then try memorizing what we would say for 6 minutes, and aside from that remember to do the speaker’s triangle, I got anxious. Fortunately, I did not do horrible, which is what I was expecting. Continuing to the next speech, we had our persuasive speech. This speech at first seemed easy because it was similar to the informative speech in many ways. The only difference was the time limit and the PowerPoint we had to make. For this speech I was well prepared and I felt great about it, I thought it was going to be the best speech. I had high hopes, but not everything goes as planned because as soon as my speech started and I was about to change the slide, I was unable to use the clicker. I got embarrassed and did not want to continue, but I knew I had to. I pushed along through the speech until I finished it. Although it wasn’t the best speech, I had to learn that not everything will flow the way you want things to, and instead you need to move…

The speech about homelessness in the United States was a great one, but there were few things that needs to be improved. He needs to avoid speaking too fast, and the camera should be focused on the speaker alone. While giving a speech, it is very important for the speaker to present his points clearly and concisely. However, this speech can be improved if the presenter takes into consideration the speed of his speech. The speech was very good likewise the structure of his presentation. In addition, the way he presented himself, vocabulary used, and the way he organized his point were fantabulous. However, he ended his speech with a rhetorical question saying “Are we willing to change?” Beyond no reasonable doubt, the question he left was meant for no one to answer, but a change is required in order to counteract this question. Generally speaking, my overall grade for this speech is an A.…

It appears that this speech falls left of center on the political spectrum. It describes what the perfect democracy is to accommodate those that make up the majority. The first line refers to a government where "the majority runs things, where the majority means something, and the interests of the majority are protected; a democracy is that in which a man is assured of all his rights" this line gives the speech an aspect of center in the sense that it is referring to everyone having fundamental rights and freedoms. However, the writer addresses every demographic of society. He's careful to spell out ideals and rights for all walks of life, which really epitomizes his left of center position. Some examples include " you, workman, are assured of your right to work, and know that nobody can kick you out into the gutter to starve to death!" and "you, old man, will not live in want when you no longer can earn enough for your own support." This gives the sense of equal social distribution ( the idea that wealth should be distributed so that everyone has enough for adequate living.) which is a common characteristic of left of center.…
