Abstract:
The problem was to determine the effect of salt water on germinating radish and sunflower seeds, and also to determine if there was a maximum concentration that could be tolerated. The more salt in the water, the fewer seeds will germinate
Introduction:
Plants that reproduce sexually start their life as a seed. seeds are formed when an ovum is fertilised by pollen. The seed has an outer protective coat and a food source that provide energy and nutrients to the growing plant. When the seed receives the correct conditions, usually water, the cell in the seed begins to divide and seed coat splits open. The process by which plants emerge from seeds and spores, and begin growth is called germination.
Background Research
The germination of the seed is when the embryo resumes growth, bursting through its encasing. This coat acts to protect the internal embryo from the elements, parasites and mechanical injury while it is still dormant. Germination can only take place under particular circumstances, involving suitable temperature, oxygen supply, water and sunlight. Some plants can reproduce asexually, or by producing clones. Many other plants produce seeds through sexual reproduction. For these plants, survival depends on germination of seeds and viability of young plants. If a seed germinates in the wrong place or at the wrong time – then life’s over for that individual. We will design and conduct experiments on seed germination to explore the effects of salt in the plant (Seed Germination Lab, 2012).
Aim: To investigate how the percentage concentration of NaCl influence in the seed germination.
Hypothesis
The hypothesis for the experiment is that the seed will not germinate if there is high amount of NaCl.

Controlled-
Acidity - The acidity of the water. Beakers Solution The amount of water goes in.
Materials:
 10 x plastic container
 25 sunflower seed ( 5 seeds in each container)
 25 radish seed ( 5 seeds in each container)
 Forceps
 Soil
 Pipettes
 Mineral water
 Nacl
 Warp plastic
 100ml beaker
 Sticky labels

Methods:
The first step was to fill the ten plastic container potting soil. Each container contained five radish s and sunflower seed into 10 different containers.
Next spread the seeds around the soil in the plastic container in order to prevent any root tangling by planting them all in one section. Next bury them half way of the soil.
Planted five radish and sunflowers seeds into ten plastic container and tagged name in the side of container.
Measuring cylinder, pipet and 150ml of beaker was rinsed with spring water to reduce the contaminated in that equipment and other pipets, measuring cylinders and 25ml beakers rinsed with 3%, 7% 9%, 10 and 15% sodium chloride solutions. Carefully dry all of them.
Filled the equipment with according solution used them to rinsed. Lightly pour the water over the seeds in a plastic container containing potting soil.
Labelled the container with the sodium content. The plastic container with the seeds on them were placed in lab and observed the number of seed germinated daily (Monday – Friday). Results were recorded daily. Safety:
Need goggles for the salt water splashing in your eyes, and gloves do not transfer bacteria to the seeds.

Radish Discussion:
The effect of salinity (NaCL concentration) on seed germination is shown in Table 1. Low level of salinity (3%) increased germination seed. The seed germination decreased as the level of salinity increased. High levels of salinity inhibit the seed germination significantly.

An avocado seed is used in this experiment. For this type of seed to start the process of germination, the favorable climate is typically very warm. If someone was to plant an avocado seed and see the quickest results, they should place the seed in the sun. Along with waiting a few days between watering the seed, allowing the soil to dry out. For the seed to germinate properly, the bottom half of the seed will be emerged into water. Once the top of the seed becomes dry it will crack and the exterior brown skin will come…

Plants reproduce by pollination, also called fertilization, which is the transfer of pollen from an anther to a stigma. A pollen grand produces a pollen tube. Eventually sperm will be discharged near the embryo sac and pollen develops. Products are seeds and fruits. Another way to reproduce is self-fertilization, which unfortunately is difficult for most plants due to…

All organisms need to reproduce for the continuation of their species. Otherwise, that species would die off. Just like animals, plants are characterized by sexual reproduction, with new organisms being formed from the union of sex cells. While it cannot be said that plants have separate sexes in the same way that animals do, they do form gametes just like animals. Two sperm cells are involved in the fertilization process with plants; one sperm cell combines with the egg cell and the other becomes the seed. In the process of fertilization with animals only one sperm fertilizes the female egg and it occurs in the fallopian tube of the female reproductive tract. Life for a new plant begins when it germinates from the seed. Part of the maturation occurs while in the embryonic stage, and the remainder occurs after birth and germination. Life for an animal begins when exiting the mother's womb or from an egg. In both cases, birth is experienced; however, with plants the process is called mitosis and with animals it is called meiosis. In plants gametes are not produced directly, they have an extra step in which meiosis produces spores.…

Germination is the process by which a plant grows from a seed. The most common example of germination is the sprouting of a seedling from a seed of an angiosperm or gymnosperm. However the growth of a sporeling from a spore, for example the growth of hyphae from fungal spores, is also germination. In a more general sense, germination can be simply anything expanding into greater being from a small existence or germ, a method that is commonly used by many seed germination projects. Seed germination depends on both internal and external conditions. The most important external factors include temperature, water, oxygen and sometimes light or darkness. Various plants require different variables for successful seed germination. Often this depends on the individual seed variety and is closely linked to the ecological conditions of a plant's natural habitat. For some seeds, their future germination response is affected by environmental conditions during seed formation; most often these responses are types of seed dormancy.…
