One enters medical facilities with full confidence in their physicians and nurses. They know that no matter what obstacles are set before them, they will conquer them, defeat them, be the champion against them. They know that in order to achieve their goals, they will need the full support of their medical team. Their team will be the physicians and nurses that will care for them day in and day out, as long as it is needed. Communication is possibly one of the most important aspects of healthcare to a patient and a provider.
While growing up one usually has the opportunity to see their parents discuss their health care with their providers, often being termed as open communication. They now know that sometimes communication is just idle chit-chat between patient and provider. When a patient is diagnosed with an illness or terminal illness, the patient knows they are going to need far more than just small talk. What they need is the ideal doctor-patient, nurse-patient relationship. Most would argue though that an ideal provider-patient relationship with healthcare as the center point is impossible to ever achieve.
In an ideal doctor-patient, nurse-patient relationship communication is clearly stated and clearly understood. Patients should be able to speak to their providers, being able to clearly state what they are need, feel, wish, and want. As a provider, they must be able to see what the patient is stating, even if that communication is without verbal words. Providers should be able to look at their patients as human beings, not as another illness or research number.
By having an ideal provider-patient relationship, patients would be able to conquer the battles set before them. Providers need to remember the patients are speaking to them based on what they are perceiving. Providers need to clearly see what they are saying. Patients hear more clearly what providers are saying when it is told to them at their level. Patients will be more

    In my context with the patient, it is important for me to improve the nurse-patient relationship.
