Seinfeld: Best Sitcom of All Time
Seinfeld

Seinfeld ranks among the best situational comedies of all time. It has been compared to I Love Lucy and The Honeymooners, both of whom received praise for there pioneering works in comedy. But I believe that Seinfeld takes the term sitcom to another level. This is accomplished by exhibiting the many attributes of the show. Seinfeld contains many characteristics of a great situational comedy. The reason why Seinfeld is a unique show is because of its coherence.
This show has a variety of plots in one episode. Seinfeld takes these plots and relates them in some odd, but funny way. The other thing that is coherent in this show is the cast. I have not seen a cast that relate to each other so well since I Love Lucy. This shows cast resembles the cast of I Love Lucy because both casts have conflicting personalities. In Seinfeld for example, George and
Jerry's personalities are the exact opposite. George is a total neurotic, while
Jerry has a take it easy personality. Same for I Love Lucy, Lucy is always the leader and Ethel is always the follower. Without coherence Seinfeld would never be where it is today. Seinfeld is very original in the ideas they use for there shows. This is where the show starts to resemble The Honeymooners and there unique ideas. The
Honeymooners' ideas were very unique for their time. Like the episode when
Ralph had a fight with Alice. It was a ground breaking idea for the time, having a couple arguing and yelling at each other. Seinfeld, whose ideas are unique for its time, had its most famous episode dealing with a Soup Nazi. They called him the Soup Nazi because he ran his soup stand with a Hitler type dictatorship. I have never seen a sitcom deal with such a stupid issue, yet it was nominated for an Emmy for the best scene in a sitcom. Another original idea used in Seinfeld is that each character has their own prerogative. They are not afraid to show the audience how they feel towards each other. Just like

The Dick Van Dyke show an old classic of the 60's when T.V. was in black and white and shows were so censored married couples lived in two separate beds. The Simpson's an everyday occasion when families come together at 5:00, 6:00, and 10:30 to watch their favorite family on colored T.V., drugs, and sex can be found in almost every episode. In a day when every one in America revolves around the next episode of their favorite violent, sexed up, drama filled sitcom where is the time to watch a nice fun filled sitcom such as the Dick Van Dyke show? "The Cosby Show" aired in 1987, ensuring family values, with the light-hearted humor of Bill Cosby, himself (Christian). Then arrived, a new type of sitcom, the Slobcom, was introduced in "Married With Children." This show was exactly the opposite of the domcoms of the early days. "Married With Children" showed a dysfunctional family, consisting of a deadbeat dad, a frustrated and lazy housewife and "sexually charged delinquent children" (Aamidor). Sitcoms basically followed the mold of previous programs, in earlier decades. Up until 1989, when "The Simpsons" came into the living rooms of Americans. "The Simpsons" was an animated sitcom that targeted both adolescents and adults, and gave "The Cosby Show" a run for its Thursday night ratings. Using the slobcom antics, similar to "Married With Children," "The Simpsons" took situation comedies to a new level, using the classic "Doh!" humor of everyone 's favorite animated family…

The main characters are the president, his wife, mistress, and his bodyguards. Before the president in the show became president, he was running for office and the other main characters knew he was going to lose so they rigged the ballot box by fiercely making the group of people make a computer program vote for him. Another thing is that everyone with power by politics use’s their power for wrong. The main body guard orders a special agent to kill people because he doesn’t want the U.S. people to know whatever he wants to hide. The mistress threatens people to insure the satiety of the president and to keep her and his secret really secret. The wife of the president blackmails him to become the senator. Overall, this show has a lot of Interpersonal violence as well as construction perspective because there is a lot of labeling as to who is who and even though people are getting blackmailed or even killed, a lot of the time the characters have some…

Using The Office as an example, the show may be classified as into established genres like “Screwball Comedy,” “Mockumentary,” or “Spoofs and Satires.” The new genres created more specifically for the text, such as “Because You Like The Office” or “Tops Picks for (Viewer’s name),” would include aspects more unique to this text in particular. Thus, the genre created by Netflix may include other shows created by Michael Schur, like Parks and Recreation, or starring Steve Carell, like The Daily Show. It may also include other mockumentaries, NBC shows, office comedies, offbeat comedies, shows with similar romantic subplots as Jim and Pam’s, shows popular at the same time The Office aired, and shows with incompetent bosses. Furthermore, new genres…

An agreeable argument is that both the Milton Berle Show and The Steve Allen show had great talents and success as variety shows. The Milton Berle show was started in 1948 by host Milton Berle, who became one of the most famous television show hosts ever. His nickname developed into “Mr. Television” because of how great a host he was. The show aired originally on the radio and then the idea of the public use of television sparked its television debut. Milton Berle was so successful as host, which is evident in the fact that while on the radio, the show went through four different hosts before it reached him, and then did not change after that point1-6. Another variety show that showed great success on television was The Steve Allen Show. The show debuted many impressive new acts of all kinds. Steve Allen himself was “innovative, funny, and whimsical”2-15, which made him apart of the show with jokes and comedy skits. His talents helped the show tremendously. The show’s comedy talents were so famous that a few years after the show was…

There are many characteristics that make up a comedy. Characteristics such as mistaken identity, battle of the sexes, and jumping to conclusions are what set the comedic story apart from the tragedy. Within a comedy, no matter how much fault, and dismay may appear within the story, there always seems to be the classic ending of "…and they all lived happily ever after…" Comedies capture the viewer with a sense of compassion and love for the characters in the story. Each character has their own essence, to which they pertain a flaw of some sorts, which the audience can relate to. With the relation to characters there is defiantly a certain interest that is grabbed by the actors, which sucks the audience into the show.…
