Self-reflection lets us monitor our communication and adjusts it to be effective; it also allows us
to recognize our core values, not only by naming what we value, but also the importance of it to
us. Along with our values and by taking time to reflect on our own self, we can start to clarify
our own personal vision of what we want to be. We reflect on ourselves in every kind of aspect
in our social atmospheres. The way we interact with each other differs from culture to culture
due to the fact that they may have different values, cultures and views. We have to remind
ourselves of that in each part of our social lives as well as different cultures having different
value views.
Perception is many things. It is the here and now of our lives. It is the moment that we are aware
of what’s going on in our environment. Perception is the present from which our memories of
the past and thoughts of our future are created by the brain. Perception is also what happens to
stimuli from the environment after it has been transformed into electrochemical impulses within
the brain. This is how stimuli is organized to give us the best chance of recognizing stimuli
whether it be complex ones such as; speech or sign language.
Language enables us to think hypothetically because we use symbols. This means that we can predict things that will happen even though we have not experienced them yet. Language also allows hypothetical thought as it gives one a much broader perspective of self-reflection and thought.
