• Alarm – this causes the fight or flight mechanism to be put into action. This is for the body to prepare for having to defend itself against a threat.
• Resistance – this is when the body’s level of stress gets lowered due to the body moving the placing the energy in damaged tissue. This causes a minimisation in the stress response.
• Exhaustion – due to the loss of energy the body can no longer fight against the situation that causes stress. Health issues may occur if the stress is not resolved straight away.
