Seniors of the class of 2015
Seniors of the class of 2015, it’s been a long time coming. It seems like it was yesterday that we were freshmen trying to adjust to the new high school environment. We were struggling to make it out of 9th grade, and now we're happy that we made it out of the 12th grade alive. As I sit back and reminisce the splendid times that we had at Meridian High, and as I recall that this is our last time being united, I want to encourage all you to go follow your dreams. Become the future doctors, lawyers, and engineers that you have always wanted to be. We are the future of this world, and as future leaders, we must set goals in order to make this world a better place for our future children so they can lead this great country when we perish from the world. We must strive to push towards excellence in college, the workforce, the military, and the real world as well. Our principal share many encouraging words during the morning announcements which were to challenge us to make our mark on the world. We need to apply the knowledge that was given to us in high school and use it to become a better society than before. I have taken them all in and realized that one of the most important things is that life is like a vapor. It appears for a short time and then it vanishes away, so live it to the fullest extent. For example, I’ve experienced the feeling of losing many family members that I was close to. I’ve recently lost my grandparents, my aunt, and three of my cousins, and it has been a challenge for me to keep pressing forward, but I kept treading on with encouragement from family members, studying, and prayer. This world will offer many challenges and at times, you may want to give up. I stand before you now and I’ll tell you this: we are the future, and you mustn’t give up. Keep toward your dreams and live your life to the fullest. There are plenty of opportunities for you to seek; goals for you to pursue, and places for you to travel. There are going to be many trials and tribulations that you must overcome but with help from God, I know you can make your dreams come true. In conclusion to this speech, my fellow classmates of 2015, I want to end on this note. A writer once said “If people aren’t laughing at your dreams, they’re not big enough”. People are going to discourage you and try to bring you down, but ignore them because they don’t know what you’re capable of. Just keep working hard and diligently, and with help from God, everything will be alright you can make this world a better place for the future.

Over the past four years throughout High School I’ve learned that you shouldn’t ask what the future holds because, you define it. You can control your destiny by the decisions you make, the manner in how you conduct yourself, and how you treat others. But, I can see the growth that I’ve achieved over the years. Not just my growth in school but as an individual. I no longer have the same goals as I once did; my standards and expectations are higher.…

While these were very difficult times, I learned a valuable lesson about the importance of the people in my life, totake time to learn all you can from people because one day you may not get the chance. When my grandfather died in 2010 it was my first encounter with the death of someone that I loved and admired so much. That moment taught me to treasure the time I had because I was able to talk to him and received the chance for him to teach me the history of our family and to fish. I watched my family through hard times come together and share stories and laugh. As I watched I learned that someone leaving was not something to be sad about, but to cherish the time you had with them and to remember what they taught you. Whether you are separated from people by death or the end of a class, take away as much knowledge from them as you can before your time with them is gone.…

Hello, I am so honored to speak in front of all the parents, staff and my fellow students today. Wow guys we made it! These past 3 years have been full of so many memories that I know we’ll never forget. Think all the way back to 6th grade we were always the littlest ones and I remember feeling like a fish out of water. We were terrified of getting lost or being late for class, but excited to have a locker to decorate and change classes each period. It doesn’t seem like that was over 2 years ago at all. We came back in 7th grade, much more confident than the year before. We looked down to the new 6th graders, asking "Were we really that short just last year?" And by the end of 7th grade I was shocked that I was officially an 8th grader. 8th grade is defiantly my favorite year. I feel like I have everything under control. But next year is full of changes. We'll have free periods, more homework, electives, and an open campus. The new choices also bring new responsibilities that test us in figuring out how we grow from kids to adults. As we say goodbye on the last day we sit together as Balboa students, we reflect on what has happened the past 3 years, but also look forward to what is coming up in the next 4 years. My advice to future 8th graders is to keep up with your school work and try your absolute best and make lots of good, loyal friends that don’t get you in the bad kind of crowd. And most importantly, have fun! This is the last year you will be the oldest in the school for another 4 years, so enjoy it! I’d like to finish this speech off with this quote : A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.-Ayn Rand…

I’ve grown up with all of you. We’ve laughed and cried together. Though, as I leave, as we all leave, I think about how we’re not going to be all in this together anymore. As the end of our time together grows closer, I want to look towards the future. Yes we’re graduating, but just as Carol Burnett says, ‘We don’t stop going to school when we graduate’. We may be leaving, but we’ll never stop learning. Each new day will be a new adventure. We’ll make new friends and gain new experiences. Yes, I know this all sounds incredibly cliché, but that’s the point isn’t it? School if anything, was a love / hate relationship. We had our ups and downs, and just like school, life is going to be the same. So I encourage you to look back on your own schooling lives; take your mistakes and learn from them.…

It’s rightly said, ‘the future belongs to those who dare to dream’. If you have goals and want to accomplish things by your own choices then the world is yours to conquer. No one can bind you though they try can only try to limit your decisions but you should have the courage to move forward. This was well presented by Martin Luther King Jr. and, Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of facebook, the social networking site.…
