As a leader, it is my wish to help and make a positive impact on people around me. Every week I help lead a church group called Cubbies. Cubbies is a discipleship training program for kids ages 3 to 4. Through the program, I help little kids grow in their faith and
hope to have a positive impact on them by being a good example. On some Sunday’s I also help with worship care. I watch little kids ages 4 to 5 and help teach them when their parents worship. I believe that being a leader is not about ourselves, but rather the people I serve. It has to be a team effort because remember, there is no “ I “ in team. As I am leading activities, I make sure that everyone has an equal say and that their ideas are well heard, I don’t want anyone feeling left out.
Service to our community is always helpful. During Christmas time, my friends and I went to Gracy Woods Nursing Home. I practiced the music several days ahead to become familiar with them, we played some Christmas carols and hymn songs for them. The residences in the nursing home were so happy that we visited them and share Christmas with them. I can see their joy on their faces and that made me want to come and spend more time with them. I believe that it is our duty to give joy the elderly, just like they gave us joy when they were young.
I am dedicated to what I do. One of the many extracurricular activities that I do is playing the violin. I started learning violin when I was 4 ¾ years old, and now I am in the school orchestra playing violin. This shows how committed I am to the things that I do. I always try to finish what I start. This means even though it may take years to finish, I keep on plowing through.
Being in the National Junior Honors Society would be exciting.
