As I progressed through this semester I found myself feeling more confident in my knowledge of different forms of treatment and using my skills to help patients achieve their full potential. From respiratory to renal and everything in between we were taught to understand the way in which these systems worked, to be able to detect any abnormalities and what to do if any problems were to arise. Other things that helped better understand not only the content but the importance of what was being taught and to apply our knowledge ATI Proctored Practice Comprehensive Predictor which fell under the learning outcome number two which states “Utilize critical reasoning and clinical …show more content…
judgment to provide safe, patient-centered care.” This test evaluates my knowledge that I have gained thus far in my time here at the University of Saint Francis. This predictor enabled me to see what areas I need to improve before I take the NCLEX. This class has better prepared me to take my NCLEX by providing me with the skills and knowledge that I need to be a better student and future nurse.
As we are now nearing the end of the semester and have covered all of the content that we are to learn I am looking back over where we began. One of our first major assignments that we had to accomplish was to complete our IHI certification. This assignment which pertains to learning outcome five which states “Collaborate with members of the health team to promote patients' health and wellbeing in an ever-changing practice environment.” This assignment allowed me to extend my understanding and improvement capability, patient safety, leadership, person and family centered care and a triple aim for populations, quality, cost and value. Through this certification module I am now better prepared to take care of patients.
In conclusion, I have learned a great deal over this semester in taking medical surgical three that I know I will use in my future nursing carrier.
The knowledge that I gained through this semester has not only helped in taking test but also in the clinical setting, passing medication and caring for patients. In nursing you have to not only know the signs and symptoms and various ways to treat the problems that arise but also look at the patient holistically. You need to care for not only the patient but also their families. It is important as a nurse to use all the skills that I have learned over the course of this semester in becoming the best possible nurse I can
be.
