Sex education is the imparting and acquiring of knowledge through teaching and learning of sexual activities and sexual behaviour. Sex education is now a growing phenomenon all over the world starting at adolescence. Therefore it is firmly believed that sex education should be introduced at high-schools because it informs individuals about the different types of Sexually Transmitted Diseases, enhances the knowledge of ethics and morals, and discouraging unwanted pregnancies.
Firstly, it can be postulated that sex education should be introduced at high-school because it informs individuals about the different types of STD’s. STD’s are diseases that can be transmitted through sexual activities. For example AIDS&HIV, Syphilis, Gonorrhoea, Herpes and Chlamydia, the main STD’s, are introduced. When educated about these, you get the knowledge of how it can be transmitted, prevented and why you would not want to be infected with it. Therefore sex education should be introduced because it informs about the different types of STD’s.
Furthermore, it can also be argued that sex education should be introduced at high school because it enhances the knowledge of ethics and morals. Ethics and morals are the guidance of how to behave decently and honourably. For example when educated about sex, individuals have the best opportunity of knowing how they should behave, therefore having more responsibilities for life and furthering themselves into getting jobs. Hence, sex education should be introduced at high school due to the enhanced knowledge of ethics and morals.
Finally, it is firmly believed that sex education should be introduced at high school because it discourages unwanted pregnancies. Unwanted pregnancy is where a woman does not want to get pregnant but experiences pregnancy.
