Without punishment, sexual assault can lead to harsher crimes such as rape and brutal beatings, as well as, long term side effects such as depression, anxiety, underdeveloped social skills, and suicide. “if nothing changes, more than 100,000 college students will be sexual assaulted in the upcoming school year” (The Hunting Ground). These childish repercussions seen in such highly respected university campuses is unacceptable and are not only shown to increase these illegal crimes by their students, but are, in reality, encouraging student to partake in these acts and creating an environment that is unsafe, unsecure, and destroying the experiences that students should be involved in to learn and grow as a young …show more content…
For colleges students, grades, athletics, and sleep are already huge responsibilities that can overcome any college student’s daily life. It is unethical for a student to have control over multiple classes and assignments, while still on the lookout for sexual predators or being forced into a sexual assault setting. Within the topic of sexual assault, it is most common for woman to be the victim in this situation, although any gender can be forced or assaulted sexually. Woman are prone to have the most forceful point of view on this topic because, while being the dominant victim within this crime, deem to suffer unnatural long term effects from incidents resulting in sexual assault. “Sexual assault on women, unlike any other offence, e.g., theft, robbery or murder, leaves a deep-rooted effect or stigma in the body and mind of a woman who has to live the rest of her life in society with the unpleasant shadow of this incident.”
