From the primitive objectives of our ancestors to mate for sex to the strict guides of matrimony throughout documented history, mankind of the modern century has a fluid regard towards sexual companionship. Minds are constantly changing, views are constantly shifting; relationships once regarded as vile and sinful are now the subject of protests for acceptance. However, at what point does a relationship violate the ethics of humankind, where the relationship is indubitably twisted, and will remain wrong until the end the symbolic time? Among the unorthodox romantic pairings that are presented in Broken Ground by Jack Hodgins, Green Grass Running Water by Thomas King, and The Sweet Hereafter directed by Atom Egoyan, audience should attempt to…
For many years mainstream social psychological research tended to concentrate on face-to-face, romantic love relationships among heterosexuals in contemporary western cultures. It’s logical for Psychologists to focus on certain types of relationships such as heterosexual ones as they are the dominant type of relationship in society.…
Many conversations have formed and developed from the topic of sexuality by many different types of individuals. The truth being ones sexuality is not truly developed until that individual is completely mature. This means we never truly find complete satisfaction within our sexuality. There are many experiences in life that can alter ones sexual development and behavior such as upbringing, religion, or ones culture. In this paper I will discuss three scenarios, all of them experiencing their own unique phase of life dealing with different stages of sexuality. I am pretending to be a therapist, and I am listing to each or the patient’s perspectives and stories. Hopefully by doing so I will be able to come up with a conclusion to why they are faced with what they are facing. I also would like to help each individual form a healthy wise decision, as well as ways to overcome the obstacle that are currently presented in their lives by expressing their sexuality. Each problem every individual in every situation is dealing with a sexual problem that is why discussing their sexuality will help me in aiding their problems.…
Dual relationships are present whenever a therapist interacts with a client in any function beyond the one role as a therapist. When a therapist performs a role other than being a therapist for the client, it may introduce desires and goals that pertain to the therapist rather than the client. These desires can risk the possibility that the therapist will place their needs above the clients. One of the most common examples of this is a sexual dual relationship or often referred to as a conflict of interest. This is where therapist and client are also involved in a sexual relationship. Sexual dual relationships with clients are always immoral and often illegal. This type of dual relationship, more than always, presents many dilemmas and ramifications.…
Both men and women seemed to follow the traditional sexual script – where men would pursue the women, and women would first wait to be chased and then decide if having sex was an option or not. Another pattern was that men indicated that woman were responsible for performing oral sex. In this study, the results showed that men would accept oral sex, or ask for it with non-verbal or verbal cues, and then in turn…
No play without a script is visualizing sexual behavior as scripted behavior instead of a primordial drive. Individuals can learn can learn sexual behavior as he or she learns other behavior, through scripts give the self, other persons, situations erotic abilities or content (Psychosexual Development, pg. 61). This is where foreplay comes in action. Foreplay can be defined as merely progressive physical excitement generated by touching naturally erogenous zones. Authors have referred to this conception elsewhere as the “rubbing of two sticks together to make a fire” model (Psychosexual Development, pg. 61). It is valuable to think of this activity as the body being eroticized through mute, inarticulate motions and gestures translated into a sociosexual drama. Psychosexual development is universal, but it comes in many forms and paces. Different cultures construct scripts differently, and in our society different segments of the population act different psychosexual drama.…
Trust is also known as the confidence one person places in another and it is the true foundation of a relationship, so much so that if it was not present the relationship would have a much greater chance of breaking apart. One of the seven ways that intimate relationships differ from casual relationships is trust because once it is understood that partners can trust each other the stability of the relationship and the intimacy increases. There are four types of attachment styles that coincide with trust that adults can have which are known as secure, preoccupied, fearful and dismissing. An attachment style can be established during childhood and leads out until you are an adult. In my own personal experience, I have a preoccupied attachment…
Evidently, sociosexuality exist in static motion and tend to be stable overtime (Vrangalova & Ong, 2014). However, I believe this personality orientation will change when people experience dramatic circumstances or changes in life because sociosexuality depends on the role of heritable factors, sociocultural learning, and past experiences (Vrangalova & Ong, 2014). It might be interesting to examine the relationship between attachment style and sociosexuality. Perhaps individual who formed a secure attachment in childhood will have low sociosexuality (restricted orientation), whereas individual who formed an insecure attachment or experienced child abuse might contribute to high sociosexuality (unrestricted orientation) and have more positive attitude towards casual sex. Furthermore, substance use of alcohol and drugs correlates positively with casual hookups (Garcia, Reiber, Massey, & Merriwether, 2012). Whether substance abuse associate with sociosexuality should be further examined. However, I believe only positive attitude towards sex and protective sex will contribute to healthy sexual relationships and enhance psychological well-beings, such as self-esteem and life…
This is a great article not just for women but for men as well. This article talks about how men can actually help there mate reach their climax. If a woman feels like she is being rushed, her mate is not catering to her romantic needs than more than likely a woman will not have an orgasm. Orgasms is merely more than just a physical thing but more so mentally for a woman. Seems as if men would take the time and ask there partner what turns them on or pleases them than this will help a woman reach her peak. I also read in this article that women can have multiple orgasms more so than a male. Mature women can achieve this quicker than younger women due to sexual experience.…

It’s no secret that we all have sex. Every person grows up as an individual, learning things about themselves as they go along, as well as learning about others. We all eventually end up calling someone else our significant other, whether it be of the same sex or not, and we all end up making personal decisions about our sexual identity and actions as we progress through life. We define our sexual identities of something unique to only us and we acquire our identities with a mix of influences: biological, psychological, social, cultures, values, and society in the time in which we are growing up. After such influences, we make the choice when to lose our virginity, when to start dating, whether or not to use precautions during sexual intercourse, when to bear our first child, and so on. There are many stages of life a person goes through before they actually know everything about themselves, know their true gender role, and sexual identity.…
When one is trying to attract a desired sex partner, their self esteem could determine how successful they are. Depending on the individuals level of self esteem they would be more or less likely to approach a possible mate. When determining the number of sex partners a person has had it is important to observe the level of self esteem of the individual in relation to the amount of partners they have supposedly slept with. A research study was done that observed males and females in their desire to possess socially desired traits. They used video tape recordings of individuals with various self esteem types and had the individuals speak to the camera as if trying to “pick up” on their desired sex partner. The study found that self esteem did not play a role in ones presentation of oneself. When asked to physically act out the desired roles and traits individuals claimed to have, self esteem did play apart in the individuals behaving accordingly to how they described themselves. (Stinson, Wood, Reddoch, Holmes, & Little, 2011) This study supports the idea that the higher self esteem an individual has the more sex partners they will likely have. If individuals have high levels of self esteem they are more likely to act on the impulse to speak and present themselves as a sex partner to a desired person.…
In this outline I am going to address three different scenarios pertaining to human sexuality. The first scenario I will cover is an adolescent girl named Anna who is very much in love and dealing with the peer pressure of her boyfriend to engage in sexual intercourse. We will also discuss how her parents feel about her boyfriend. Secondly I will discover why an elderly couple is trying to get their groove back sexually and some of the problems they face due to their age. Last we will talk about a gentleman named Bill who has been paralyzed from the waist down since he was a kid. Bill would like to be intimate in the relationship that he is currently in but is very nervous and uncomfortable when it comes to discussing the subject with his girlfriend. I will address Bills feelings and offer him some information regarding sexuality and his disability.…
