Sherlock is a modern update of the story of the famous sleuth and his doctor partner solving crime in 21st century London. The lead character is Sherlock. He appears as a tall, thin man with dark, curly hair. Like the original character, Sherlock is able to deduce information from the smallest details. Sherlock is often insensitive of how this affects the officers and usually ridicules their incompetence; however, he is frequently mocked by them for being eccentric.
Sherlock seems to care more about the crimes than the victims involved, like the Holmes of the original story. He is not very sociable, but he refers to Dr Watson as his " friend and associate". It mixes modern humor with smart wit to make an enjoyable program that most of the family can enjoy. The series has two seasons which has both of them enjoying excellent reviews and has been a successful across the pond in America with the show being well received there. The show follows the classic Hollywood narrative with the episodes normally being in a standalone format. This means the committer of the crime is normally caught by the end of the episode and a new equilibrium is established.
The series is pure crime drama, however there are a few comedy elements for example Sherlock’s glee and happiness that a crime has been committed because he loves the thrill of committing crimes and he has to be reminded often by Watson that somebody has actually died. Also Sherlock’s bluntness and rudeness towards other officers is a source of comic
