Short And Long Term Goals In Social Work
Short and Long Term Goals
My ultimate goal is to become a successful social worker. I believe this is the career for me because I can relate to troubled teenagers that struggled growing up. In order to reach my goal, I set up a plan consisting of short and long term goals. My long term goal is to graduate COS within the next two years and move on to a higher institution. In order to reach my long term goals, I first have to reach my short term goals leading up to it. After I have met both my short and long term goals, I will be able to help those teenagers in need.
Before I start my career in social work, I have to take care of the smallest priorities first, which are my short term goals. My ongoing short term goals are to finish my homework,

After having a good standing GPA, my long term goals are to graduate from The College of Sequoias and transfer to California State University, Fresno. There, I hope to find an internship while getting my bachelors degree in social work. I would like to expand my knowledge in my area of study because being a social worker has a lot of different positions you can choose from that range from child welfare and counseling. In the social work field there are many job opportunities. According to the National Association of Social Workers, "Social workers serve individuals, families, and communities. They are managers, supervisors, and administrators. They serve at all levels of government. They are educators. They are therapists and researchers. More and more, they are also elected political leaders and legislators" (socialworkers.org). As you can see this area of study is very broad and can lead to many future careers. I will be able to get the chance to help a troubled teenager by bringing out the best in them. As for myself, I know what it is like to not have that support in school when growing up. I believe I would gain the proper training and education in CSUF to be able to reach my destination. Not only do I want to attend Fresno, but I am going to graduate with a B.A. and Master's Degree in social …show more content…
Before I could share my testimony with teenagers, “that you don’t need all the riches to become successful,” I have too study hard and take charge over the obstacles that keep me from reaching my goals, like procrastination and the distractions of social media. After I graduate from COS and Fresno, there will be a point in my life where I will feel satisifaction of achieving what no one in my family has before, and that is finishing college.
Finishing college would be a great reward, but once I'm a social worker, I can provide appropriate advice, support, and resources to individuals who are experiencing personal difficulties and help them overcome their problems. As I continue pursuing my short and long term goals, my will of reaching my ultimate goal is far more greater now, due to the fact that, knowing that there will be many teenagers in need of support. The future generations are what motivate me to strive through each goal one at a

The most important goal for my future is to obtain a satisfying career. Growing up I saw how unhappy my mother was working at a job that she hated just to make enough to provide for our family. I further understood how important a satisfying career was to me when I started working the graveyard shift as a dockworker during community college. I strongly disliked almost everything about the job including the exposure to extreme temperatures, the job’s filthy nature, the long and irregular hours, and most of all because it was unfulfilling. I was miserable with my occupation but I was dependent on it because it was lucrative and provided me with a way to support myself through college. I worked fulltime at this job for two years while also being a fulltime student until I transferred to SIU. The dread that I felt toward my job made me work harder academically because I knew that someday my hard work would amount to a career that I thoroughly…

There are many types of goals. Growing up, I always dreamed of being two things: a mother and a nurse. I am blessed to have two wonderful children ages 14 and 16 and have had the privilege of being able to be a stay-at-home mom during their younger years. Now that they are older and a bit more independent, I have decided to go back to school and fulfill my goal of earning my degree in Nursing. Throughout the years of growing and maturing, I have learned how important it is to have good morals, values, goals, a passion for something, and a good education. I have not only taught my children the importance of these characteristics, but I have also shown them that regardless of one’s age or stage in life, that…

Hello Dr. Aaron Oberman and fellow classmates. I’m excited to be taken this course because I’m almost at the finish line of completing my degree. I have been working in social services for almost 15 years helping adults meeting their needs while aiming at becoming self-sufficient. I enjoy my job, but I’m burned out, meaning my job no longer brings me the same satisfactions as it did 15 years ago. I reevaluated my life giving consideration to my age, family and happiness and decided it was time for a career change. As an undergrad student, I recall an instructor telling us in life most people will have a job and a career. Social Services is currently my job and school counseling will be my career. With age I have learned helping others…

It’s easy to make a goal rather than to achieve it. However, with determination one can succeed in accomplishing it. I have accomplished one of many goals in my list and that's to attend college. In my family not a lot attended college or even finished high school, so accomplishing this goal is a big subject of matter to my family.Getting this far is even a big accomplishment in my eye’s, especially when you break free from an assembly line of generations that never had attended college. The feeling is still overwhelming, mainly because I’m the first of many generations in my family to accomplish something big like…

One goes to college, usually around the age of eighteen, and by the time they leave they are expected to have decided on the career that they will have for the rest of their lives. I want to have the ability to touch people 's lives by helping them understand themselves and why they behave the way in which they behave. Relationships are such an important aspect to the process of human growth, and they impact each and every one of us.
