Several businessmen; including David Larsen, proprietor of Larsen’s Produce, and Ronald Rehnquist, the owner of Bradley Oil Company; met at a local restaurant for a morning coffee break and conversation. During one these coffee breaks, the contemplative men considered the relative virtues of gas and electric cooking ranges. Dave’s spouse used a modern gas range in her kitchen and Ron recently purchased an electric range for his wife. Each man thought that he had made the wisest acquisition and each refused to concede his stance. Consequently, the obstinate opponents pressed for proof. The assembly of executives, in the best managerial tradition, set a date and the rules for a contest pitting one range against the other. The air of confidence in an anticipated victory, which each contestant exhibited, nurtured the expectation of an entertaining competition. Nonetheless, a consensus existed that Ron’s unfounded and unbridled optimism would lead to a disgraceful defeat and that he, as the loser, would buy everyone a cup of…

Now it's time for tip-off. Blazers are leading at the end of the 1st quarter 31-21. I figured the Cavs would be winning. Starting the second the Cavs went on a run and went up 49-38 but Damian Lillard had 31 points and 5 assists. Now my dad and I go throw away the devoured popcorn and find are seats again. Starting the third they went back and forth with baskets but the Trail blazers finally managed to tie it going into the fourth 78-78. Starting the fourth Damian Lillard makes a off-balance three and the whole crowd erupts. We kept that momentum and won 111-97. Damian Lillard had 51 points and 10 assists. It was crazy. Afterwards my dad and I were walking back to the car and saw Damian Lillard. I had him sign my jersey it was awesome. I told him thank you. It was sad to have to go home. Not only leaving the awesome game but it will take…

Becoming a chef can be a good career move, but only for those of you who don't mind working on evenings and weekends (and almost any other time when the rest of the people are not working), standing on your feet for long hours, working under pressure, enduring burns and cuts, hot environment, smoke and fumes, noise and heavy lifting. To become a good chef you need much more than the knowledge how to cook different kinds of food. A good chef has many qualities and most of those qualities have more to do with management than cooking. He/she should be very familiar with food cost, labor cost, public health regulations, fire code, have great interpersonal skills, be able to plan and organize all kitchen work, develop new menus, cater for customers with food allergies and so on. I should stop with the heavy staff here, because my article started to look like a job posting in a government web site. But, if you have the right kind of personality, becoming a chef can bring you many rewords, some of which are not necessarily monetary rewords. For example, the satisfaction of the job well done at the end of the night, the good comments of your customers, the camaraderie and team work in the kitchen, the possibility to apply your creativity, the life-long learning and the prospects of advancement.…
