Short Story Tiri By Phil Kawana
In the short story “Tiri” written by Phil Kawana, Tiri went through a lot, he had many problems in his life, he’s done some pretty bad things too. The challenge i will be writing about is Tiri always being alone, he had no one to turn to when he did something bad/good but all of this are the results of him always being alone.

Tiri didn’t have the best childhood. He was alone, he had no one to go and tell his problems to. He was always being bullied for being dark “my skin colour wasn’t the same as theirs” and “the other kids would laugh at me and call me the black beggar” was it his fault he was dark? And when he had enough he used to fight them “we always stopped at the sight of blood” but then for that too he used to get abused by his dad, it wasn’t Tiri’s fault he picked a fight, In my opinion, I don’t think he should have been treated this bad from his dad because the dad should understand what he’s going through, getting bullied about your skin colour isn’t easy especially at a young age but all the dad did was see Tiri’s mistakes not the societies. It made me understand Tiri better because people have different ways of dealing with situations and

He had nowhere to go so he stayed on the streets for 3 months until social welfare put him into foster. When he was 16 and got smuggled into Sydney by a takapui merchant seaman in return for a blow job each night of the trip. I think it was a bad idea since they got caught on the first night of the trip, got arrested and got deported back. “And always the darkness wrapped itself around me” no matter what Tiri does, something bad just has to happen. It made me understand Tiri because he was just looking for place to fit in, his past ruined him. If I was him I’d act/be the same because there wouldn’t be anyone telling me what’s right or wrong, I’d just have to make the decisions myself and that’s what Tiri is doing for himself right

In Amber Bierce’s harrowing short story “Chickamauga,” the author portrays that war is not all honor and glory, but momentous and deathly through imagery. In a make-believe game of battle, a little boy ventured further than his normal grounds and “went forward toward the dark inclosing wood.” The writer uses the words “dark” and “inclosing” to make the reader feel more on edge, and assemble an ominous atmosphere. It hints that this boy is no longer playing a recreation for children. Later on, the child runs into damaged soldiers who’s “creeping figures” had been lit up by a “strange red light,” giving them “monstrous” shadows.…

Because she was raised by both parents Tiffani was spoiled rotten until she moved to. One of her memorable memories happens to Tiffani at the age of 15 in Philadelphia. Robin also gave birth to two more children giving Tiffani another sister and brother. Tiffani was still a shining star but not only to her parents but to her younger siblings as well.…

Celiac disease is a life-long autoimmune disorder, which causes damage to the lining of villi and microvilli (absorptive surfaces) in the small intestine. 1 This damage is caused by a substance called gluten and as a consequence of a long-term consumption the risk of developing associated conditions will increase. Gluten is a protein that can be found in crops such as barley, wheat and rye. If a person suffering from celiac disease is exposed to gluten in their diet, an enzyme called “transglutaminase changes the gluten into a chemical that causes an immune response, leading to inflammation of the lining of the small intestine.” 4 As a result the villi lining the walls of the small intestine gets blunted and destroyed and thus preventing a…

This time he told me to put the bones of the goby into four jars and lay them under my bed. I did as he told and waited the next day to see what would happen. Later that day, King Gonang, the ruler of the Tajmasago castle, proclaimed he would throw a festival. Stepmother Beatrice and Cresealia went without me to the festival. I got chosen the job to sort a basket of green and black beans. The Buddha arrived and told me to unbury the fish bones for a surprise in each one. I ran quickly up to my room and unburied the bones. Inside the jars were a blue satin dress with silver lace trimmings, a pair of blue satin slippers to match the dress, a leather saddle for a horse with golden trim, and a black horse with white furred hooves with beautiful emerald eyes. I was very excited that I suited myself up in my new attire and rode my horse to the castle.…

SMARTHINKING's E-structor Response Form (Your marked-up essay is below this form.) HOW THIS WORKS: Your e-structor has written overview comments about your essay in the form below. Your e-structor has also embedded comments [in bold and in brackets] throughout your essay. Thank you for choosing SMARTHINKING's OWL; best wishes with revising your paper! Hi, Gregory! I am Kobe F., and I am happy to read and comment on your work today. I like your choice of Jimmy Cross for your discussion because he suffers the most important conflict between desire and duty in O’Brien’s story. Below I suggest some improvements to your thesis statement, conclusion, and comma use to help you enhance your paper. The ERF and embedded comments include the draft being on topic and grammatically correct as in “Help Requested.” So here we go!  *Strengths of the essay: The strongest point of this draft is that you start the introduction with “What is more important desires or obligations?” as your most important topic-related question that hooks readers to read on. Well done, Gregory! *Gregory 6001059 has requested that you respond to the Main Idea/Thesis: “Jimmy Cross the protagonist in O’Brien’s “The Things They Carried” is pulled astray from his obligations as a leader and protector by his desires for love” identifies your topic and the story as well as its author, but your thesis statement must do more, Gregory. Remember, naming the main topic, defining the purpose of the essay, and indicating the main discussion points to follow are the important tasks of the essay’s thesis that is best given at the end of your introductory paragraph after the essential background details. Look at this model: The central theme of the novel East of Eden by John Steinbeck is that love and hate are closely related (topic), so the qualities of each emotion [core idea 1(love) and 2 (hate)] and the relationship between the two (core idea 3) will be discussed to prove that they are reversible aspects of the…

The earliest documented dolls go back to the ancient civilizations of Egypt, Greece and Rome. Dolls being used as toys was documented in Greece around 100AD. They have been made as crude, rudimentay playthings as well as elaborate art. Modern doll manufacturing has its roots in Germany going back to the 15th century. With industrialization and the appearance of new materials like porcelain and plastic, dolls were increasingly mass produced. During the 20th century dolls became increasingly popular as collectibles.…
