They want to kill Rikki because he is now the family’s new pet, and the snakes hate that family so they want to kill his new adopted family too. Rikki does not let that happen, though, and he will protect them at any cost. First of all, Rikki is fast, he is quick to thinking and on his feet. In “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi”, Nagaina turned out to be very desperate for the survival of her eggs. During the last scenes of the story, when Rikki-tikki was about to destroy Nagaina’s last egg to lure her away from Teddy, she forgot about every one of her goals just for her last egg and was willing to do anything for it. Nagaina even claimed that she would leave the garden forever and never come back, just for the sake of her egg, which was proven when she says,“Give me the egg, Rikki-tikki. Give me the last of my egg, and I will go away and never come back,” on page 241. Nagaina was willing to lose all her power over the garden just for her one egg. If she could do this much for the life of one egg, did she not realize that it would be wrong for her to kill, Teddy, his father, his mother, and…

Rikki-Tikki-Tavi by Rudyard Kipling is a very good story. The excerpt is about a Mongoose who is determined to kill the three snakes in the garden and save his family. The author claims that Rikki-tikki is a very curious and brave creature. It is also very hard to frighten Rikki-Tikki because mongoose’s are “eaten up from noose to tail with curiosity.” According to Kipling, Rikki-Tikki wound up in “the middle of a garden path” when a high summer flood washed him out of the burrow that he lived in. He met two cobras, Nag and Nagaina, he knew he had to kill them for the safety of his family and friends. The father in the story was almost killed by Nag in the bathtub but Rikki-Tikki came to the rescue and killed Nag first.…

The big snake is a symbol of manhood and as such is an integral part of understanding Jim Burden coming to grips with his own masculinity. The snake in this sense represents a man who has become complacent in life. The snake was once in fighting prime however, a more cushioned lifestyle leads it to become weak. This weakness shows how mediocrity is directly in tandem with complacence and how one cannot exist without the other. Furthermore, Jim Burden mentions how the snake in its prime would have been a match for a boy such as himself. However, since the snake was old and complacent Jim Burden, a superior and more masculine force, was able to kill it. The fight between the snake and Jim Burden is social commentary on the life of men. If men…
