Bravery is what helped Rikki the most “Rikki-Tikki had sprung, jumped on the snake’s back, dropped his head far between his forelegs,
bitten as high up the back as he could get hold, and rolled away.”( Kipling, 127) This brought out his inner courage to go out and fight a 5-foot cobra and think he’s going to come back out alive. He also told everyone who's boss and is going to fight for his family in return of feeling great about being a hero. Rikki, being able to jump and bite the snake was incredible for his small mongoose sized legs and arms. “Rikki Tikki Tavi killed the snakes because he wanted to protect his family from any harm,” in the bungalow Rikki-Tikki -Tavi fights the cobra and has the opportunity to save his family's life as well as keeping his home safe. Though you will see his bravery sometimes it might not go as well as planned. However, this effect can cause his family to make Rikki fight anything else outside his bungalow. In The end, he knows that killing the cobra was something he had to do because the snakes were harming the other animals in his jungle as well as threatening his family. Nag is not very happy when fighting Rikki, but also thinks he is the best. “He jumped up in the air as high as he could go, and just under him whizzed by the head of Nagaina, Nag’s wicked wife.”(Kipling,126) Rikki feels like he accomplished a lot and fought such a big snake and likes the revenged he played on Nag and Nagaina. Some may say that was the wrong thing for Rikki-Tikki-Tavi to get revenge on the snakes, but some will still say that the snakes had to go and maybe not in that manner. This is why Rikki the mongoose in a brave hero. The cobras had there chance to stop, but kept going so Rikki stepped in and stop what was happening.
