Question: Comparing two types of backpacks with different comfort features with different amounts of weight, seeing which is more comfortable.

5. Results – There was only a slight difference between the backpacks. The backpack with more comfort features had more trunk flexion. The children preferred that one because of the padded straps. Selecting a good backpack is based on personal choice and age than what features it may have. Also, consideration of how much weight put in the backpack and size compared to person wearing it.
Appraisal and comments:
1. Critical appraisal
a. Strengths: Revealing the issue that backpacks may have on young students back, creating worse back problems as adults. Also, finding that if a company advertises their backpack as being more padded and comfortable, being more expensive, when this does not make a difference. If anything, these backpacks make a child bend over more with the extra padding.
b. Threats/limitations: The results did not give us much on helping children with choosing the correct backpack. Since the difference wasn’t significant enough they still do not have a backpack that will help with back pain.
