Method Advantages Disadvantages

Uniform
Advantages having all pupils in the same uniform gives the students a sense of belonging and reduces any teasing from other children and families comparing the families financial status. Outsiders can identify clearly that a child attends a certain school if they abscond. The Logo\uniform advertises the standard and ethos of the school. A smartly dressed student sends a positive message to the surrounding community out on school trips and visits out of school.
If the pupil is wearing the schools uniform and the child lets the school down behaving inappropriate this may tarnish the school`s reputation.
Extra costs of badges, bookmarks and book bags (which are part of the uniform) does add extra costs to families and can be an expense.
The logo added jumpers are a lot more expensive and a child who does not have one could feel out of place if most children in his\hers class wear them.

Brochure About the School
Having a school brochure at a New Start Meeting can be shared collectively between staff members and parents any unfamiliar terms and phrases can be explained further to the parents and important information can be highlighted to read in their own time at home.
The advantage having a brochure is families without access to the internet can find relevant information if they need it.
A brochure is a quick way to find schools contact number, or the teachers names and what other responsibilities and roles they have within the school setting.
The Brochure could get damaged or lost this would be a disadvantage to families who do not have access to the internet.
Once the brochure is given out to families and any information has not been added this is a disadvantage because it wouldn’t be a quick procedure to fix it. Making the brochure would be expensive to make due to the amount of paper needed, ring binders and plastic A4 covers for each copy.

One thing that I found very important and useful was the section on the emergency codes and alert. Throughout the section it goes over what each code means and what you do as well as what the alerts are. For this school these codes are labeled by color, red, green, blue and yellow; if of these codes hold their own meaning. Another section I found useful was the child abuse section, it goes over what to do if this situation occurs and how to contact DECS. I feel these two sections are very important and teachers should read them every…

Students will be more comfortable with a dress code and still get to express themselves through fashion. In conclusion, school uniforms are not always beneficial. Children should have the right to appropriately dress for school. This right allows them to experiment with their creativity, imagination, and develop their personality. School should support diversity instead of equality by wearing the same outfit, because each and every student is different and unique. Diversity helps individuals to understand one another and helps spark interest. Clothing expresses a person’s rare personality and culture, it should be their right to show their peers their true…

One of the reasons that school uniforms should not be allowed in schools because they are not cost effective. One reason why they are not cost effective is because some families cannot afford multiple uniforms, plus the clothes that students wear outside of school (Pakhare 1). Unlike the students who can afford three, four, or five uniforms, the poorer students’ one uniform will look worn out and used by mid-semester compared to everyone else (Stainburn 1). It will be easier to pick out the kids who cannot afford much. The social boundaries that uniforms were trying to get rid of will still occur with or without them (Cruz 47). The second reason behind why school…

I think most school uniforms are hideous and unappealing, and being forced to wear something that is not comfortable to a child is not good for their mental image. What happens if someone doesn’t like the colour green, red, yellow, grey or any other colour? If children were allowed to wear their own clothes at least they would be comfortable in it. In the case of younger children, if they got their only school jumper muddy, they wouldn’t have another one to wear the next day, which would mean they got told off at school.…

Some parents believe that schools should not have school uniform for one reason: cost. The cost of school uniform is something that troubles many parents across the UK as the price of school uniform has increased considerably over the past few years. What makes the situation worse for many is when their child's school changes their uniform. Many schools in order to receive extra funding from the government have changed their status to academy; when they do this they often change their uniform to try and present a new image to the public about the school. This means the parents have to buy their child a whole new uniform. It also means that hand me downs or buying second hand is no longer an option which is what many people try to do when buying new school uniform for their child.…
