Yes, I believe federal laws should be passed to protect against sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination in the workplace. I believe everyone should be treated equally in a workplace regardless of what his or her sexual orientation or gender identity is. I don’t think it is fair or morally correct for a manager or employer to discriminate against someone because of what his or her sexual orientation or gender identity is. In today’s society gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender are becoming more common, so it is creating more attraction to these members, often times creating it harder for these members to be treated as if they are “normal” and just like someone who is heterosexual, due to people still not believing this is okay or correct. An individual should be evaluated based on their KSAs and their experience for the job position. I do not believe laws should be passed to protect discrimination based on weight because it is the person’s own fault if he or she is too overweight for the job, unless it is due to a disability, which if a person has a covered disability he or she is already protected by ADA .
