According to the United States law, people age eighteen and above are considered adults. Likewise, other European countries and developed countries. Why should adults, then be barred from consuming alcohol?, Since adults are capable of making their own life decisions. The minimum age for drinking is set at twenty one in the us. This simply neglects adult choices, rights, desires, and wants. However, it is obvious in the society that alcohol is consumed by individuals age sixteen and above, for recreational uses. The law does not reflect the drinking population and the actual age in which it should be set. I personally started drinking at age fifteen, although…

There is a huge problem with underage drinking in the U.S. Some states have already lowered the drinking age such as Maine, Massachusetts, and Michigan. One main point on why it shouldn’t be lowered is because of a higher chance of depression in teens. Second, it increases health and educational problems in teens also. Lastly, it would increase the amount of alcohol related accidents because of teens brains not being fully developed.…

The appropriate age for a teenager to obtain a driving permit is 16 years old, however I believe it should be raised to 17 since there is a high rate of teenagers causing accidents. There might be some exceptions why they should keep it at 16 but due to the high rate of teen crashes they should raise the age to 17. Statistics have shown that teenagers have a higher chance of accidents. Teenagers from the ages of 15 to 17 are more likely to cause a car crash for many reasons. While teenagers go out at night and drive around with friends and only have their permit, they are putting other’s people life at risk. The three main reasons why teenagers should be at least the age of 17 to be able to get their permit is because they drive and text,…

In my response the driving age should not be raised. This concern has been a problem then and still is today. The Driving age should not be raised , one reason is 16 or 17 year olds drive everywhere in case of emergencies , for work , school and we shouldn’t take that away from them. If the 16 year old or 17 year old are trying to drive they at least should have a permit and should require it so that if they get stopped by a patrolling officer they know if they have the privilege to drive or not and should get fine if they are caught without a permit. It’s important to learn how to drive at an early age because it can really help if their is some type of emergency throughout the family and they need to drive to the hospital or a parent can’t drive anymore and needs to be driven.…

For many years, there has been the question should the drinking age be lowered to 18? In today's society, most young adults drink behind their guardians back, but do not realize the consequences that come with their choices. With much speculation, this topic has became a very intriguing argument. What does drinking do to the growth of the brain? Can alcohol do just as much harm to someone 18 then someone 21? Will they be just as responsible? Can someone that young make the correct decisions?…

Many have disagreed that the minimum driving age should be raised from 16 to 18. It should stay at 16. There are many advantages to driving at an age younger than 18. Various teenagers are unable to participate in extracurricular activities due to no available way to get to and from the activity, teens are able to get jobs and need a way of transportation without depending so much on their parents, and numerous high school graduates are younger than 18 or just turned 18.…

The drinking age should definently not be lowered considering many factors. For one, the age to purchase a weapon is 18, which would cause many complications between drunk teenagers and the authority to purchase a weapon. Second, alcohol consumption in a teenagers undeveloped brain can cause many health problems later in life. Lastly, a teenager drinking in a bar is definently not a safe environment because many people get killed, raped, drugged and much more in bars and other drinking affiliated environments.…

Eighteen is the age that everyone becomes an adult in the United States. Eighteen is also the age when you should be able to decide if you choose to consume alcohol. Turning eighteen is a big responsibility at the age of eighteen you are allowed to choose to smoke cigarettes, vote, get married, serve on juries, sign contracts, and join the military which includes risking one's life. So if you're allowed to choose all of these then I feel like you should be allowed to make the decision on either or not you want to consume alcohol.…

Since 1987, it has been argued that the legal drinking age in the United States should be lowered to 18 so that young adults are allowed to drink in certain environments. This argument has many sides which can be argued. At 18, you are considered an adult. You can vote, charged with adult crimes, and even die for your country, but you cannot consume alcohol. To me that is discriminating against people in the age group of 18-20. As of now, adults over 21 years old are allowed to drink in places such as restaurants, bars, and some other controlled environments. Adults over the age of 21 could work to be seen as role models and promote responsible drinking. They could teach younger adults about the affects of alcohol and how it can affect your ability to function properly. Sensible drinking and responsibility would eventually be seen.…

Once a person turns 18 years old they are already considered an adult. Yes, it may sound bad saying that 18 years old should have the right to legally drink, but lets look at the facts; you can drive a car, vote in all elections, smoke cigarettes, serve on juries, be prosecuted as an adult, get married, have children, fight in a war, gamble, but not have a beer until your 21? Now, if young men and women under the age of 21 can legally get married and especially can go and fight on the front lines for our country then they should be able to consume alcohol.…

NZ young people are increasingly proving that they are too immature, too irresponsible to get behind the steering wheel of a car. Instead of cleaning up after young drivers who have crashed, or advertising against student drunk drivers, the Gov.t could put more money into public transport so youth wouldn't have to drive to work. 15 are far too young, and it definitely should be raised. Remember - a driving license is a privilege not a right, as some of you think it is... Not only should the driving age be lifted to 18, there should be more draconian restrictions in place during the licensing period. Road safety should be compulsory in schools from an early age. Bicyclists should be licensed, as party of attaining a full 'drivers' license - having completed the bicycle module, the applicant must then spend a compulsory period on the treadle; the next step will be a basic motor scooter/motorcycle course, followed by another compulsory period riding either a scooter or restricted output motorbike. Having completed these modules, an applicant may then apply for permission to be considered for a 'full' driver's license - the process of attaining such should NOT be easy; too many of us consider piloting two tonnes of death down our highways at lethal speeds to be a 'right', when it is, in fact, a responsibility. And, time and again, we continue to prove that we are not responsible beings. 15 year old minds are not able to link cause with effect and therefore are not mature enough to hold a drivers licence. The age for driver’s licences should be raised to 18. In conjunction with this, the money spent on safe driving advertising campaigns (which are proven to be ineffective) should be spent instead on public transport systems. The young kids are too irresponsible to be driving at anything less than 18. The school leaving age should be 18 too. I think the driving age should be raised to 18 because... young people strive to take opportunities that take advantage of…
