Should Men And Women In The Sports Event?
Chair, members of the house,
This house believes that women and men should not co-compete in all sporting events and we will argue this motion for several reasons. We all want to watch fair and entertaining sporting events, so is it fair to tell every sports viewer that the rules and regulations are going to have to change? That the quality of most sporting events will decrease for no purpose at all? Equality in sports is an issue, but men and women co-competing is not the answer to it. Physiologically, the differences between a man and a woman put them on a different level. Men have a higher haemoglobin level due to women’s blood cells containing 20% water therefore allowing less oxygen to pass to their muscles. Yes, of course a woman can …show more content…
For example, Ronda Rousey, a UFC champion commented, “I would never want to see a man fighting a woman on television. The possibility of seeing a man beating up a woman is a bad picture to put across.” Imagine a girl aspiring to become a sportswoman who never sees any of her female idols dominate any active sports game. If I never saw these male superstars dominating games and playing to the best of their ability, I wouldn’t have started to play sports. If men and women were to co-compete, the number of women playing these integrated sports would decrease substantially. Why would a woman turn up to a game just to be consistently beaten? Serena Williams, easily the best female tennis player in the world, lost to a man who was ranked No. 203. Serena said, "I didn't know it would be that hard. I hit shots that would have been winners on the women's tour and he got to them easily." For a sport like tennis, where there are no safety issues for a man to compete against a woman, the best player overall is still a man. Do you really think someone of William’s ranks, someone of her title, someone labeled the best female player in the world would want to co-compete with men and most likely not even make it to the quarter finals?
