Should the minimum driving age be raised? 15-to-20-year-olds only make up 17% (13.2 million) of the total licensed drivers on the U.S. Teenagers have been involved in many car accidents since 1998. Car crashes among 15-to-20-year-olds have been recorded and studied by Mr. masten and his colleagues. car crashes involving teenagers were really high in 1998; however rules and programs have been applied to teach teens how to be responsible and know how to handle a car before driving by themselves on the streets.
One reason why minimum driving age should be raised is because teenagers have more time to take advantage of driving programs that will help them get prepared before getting behind the wheel. Some teenagers think that is not them, is other people who are getting into car accidents and they will be good driving alone because nothing will happen to them. Usually teenagers who never had anyone from their family been involved in a car crash say things like that, but they forget they can be the first of their family to be involved in one. It doesn't always have to be you, it can be some other teen driving and not following the rules and crash you. I personally wouldn’t want a family member go out and have a teenager under the crash into them because the teenagers wasn’t being responsible and injuring them severely. More mature teennagers will understand the danger of driving a car and the responsibility it takes. They will care for their safety; they know that it's not just their safety but the safety of the people around them
