The raising of minimum wage would cause businesses to lay off many of their workers. This increases the unemployment rate in our country. Furthermore the poverty level in our country would be increased by raising minimum wage. Those people who one would think would benefit from a raise in the wage, would actually be negatively affected. Their increase in pay means a decline in the hours they are allowed to work. The decrease in hours is because the demand for the expensive products has gone down. The products have become more expensive, because of the raise in wages. Raising the wages starts a trickle affect that affects many people (ProCon.org).

more skill. Nobody wants to pay an unskilled person a lot of money, it just doesn't make sense. If the wage was smaller though, the employers would be willing to hire unskilled workers like teens (Doyle). After the rise of the minimum wage in 2009, 8% of teenagers lost their jobs. That is one third of the teenagers in the work force at that time. Furthermore, the people who didn't finish high school or college will be negatively affected. they are unskilled workers and no employer wants to pay them more money for being unskilled. The raise in wage is really just putting people out of their jobs (ProCon.org).
Robots are also a worry with the raising of the minimum wage.
The robots that are being made now a days, can do complicated things. This will put the unskilled workers out of work. The employers won't have to pay the robots at all. They also don't have to make rules or monitor their workers because the robots are programmed to do the right thing. Andrew Woodman, JD, said " the raising of minimum wage could ultimately be the undoing of low income service jobs". This is a reasonable and logical statement from a highly educated person. Many people think raising the minimum wage helps the poor areas, but in fact it does the opposite. the employers would have to raise their prices which wouldn't help them make more money because the people wouldn't be able to afford it. This is true for little towns like wahoo also
(ProCon.org).
Furthermore, people believe that there should be no minimum wage. If somebody wants to work for five dollars that is their choice. The government should have no part in minimum wage. I think that by having a minimum wage, people's rights are being limited. along those lines, we would see wages change based on the economy of an area. This helps everybody out (ProCon.org).
Based on all the past raising of minimum wage and what might happen in the future, I would say it is bad to raise minimum wage. It takes away jobs, limits people's rights increases the prices of all other items, and it negatively affects more than it helps. The minimum wage definitely should not be raised, but maybe it should be demolished.
