Should minors be allowed to have access to social media?

Should minors be allowed to have access to social media? Can they be trusted to use it responsibly? I believe that minors should be allowed to have access to social media.
Social media is one of the main forms of entertainment for teenagers. Many teenage high school students are almost guaranteed to check their social media pages at least once or twice a day whether they are at home, school, or at anytime they feel bored. Social media is used everywhere at anytime because many people especially teens, enjoy using social media no matter where they are at. Additionally, social media can provide information on how to do something whether it’s changing the oil in your car, or

Many of my friends and family members post pictures and videos of either them and/or myself so they can create memorable events to reflect on in the future. Social media is the perfect place to place all your memorable events because those memories will never leave your page unless they are deleted. Unfortunately, social media is also crawling with cyber-bullies. Cyber-bullying is one of the many reasons why people commit suicide because the victims are constantly threatened by cyber-bullies. Even though someone can create long-lasting memories on social media, cyber-bullying can make it dangerous because it may cause someone to commit suicide.
Those who disagree with this might be worried about posting something they will later regret. However, they are wrong because teenagers are taught by their parents and teachers to stop and think before they post something. Many schools have requirements to take a short anti-cyber-bullying course once or even twice a year. As long as these teens know what they should and shouldn’t post, they should be allowed to use the internet because they know how to stay safe and not get into

Why might adults think that children should not use social media all the time? Adults might think that children should not use social media because it might cause a lot of trouble to themselves. For example, children could be cyberbullied because they could have body injuries due to repeating the same movement again and again, and with a device, right in front of you at all times, you might forget to do your homework. Reasons as to why children get cyberbullied are because of multiple reasons like of how they look, so because of how they look people call them names even thirteen or twelve-year-olds call younger people names when they should be mature by now. Bullying can take a variety of forms. Bullying can happen when people, post negative comments on pictures, post abusive posts on a user's wall, use pictures or videos to make fun of another person, or when use social media to stalk. It can happen on Facebook, Twitter, Whats app, Snapchat, and Instagram. The effect of social media bullying is often more dangerous than physical bullying, especially at the beginning. However, if parents do not watch their children, the end result can be tragic. The bullying in social media has caused the instances of teen suicide to rise dramatically. This is because many teens do not have the emotional capacity to deal with bullying, and it may lead to dangerous things, like skipping school, or using alcohol or drugs. Parents should talk to the kids and teach them how to deal with bulling and always tell the parents if anybody post defamatory information about them, so parents can contact the social networking site with a complaint. And take a legal action if these activities get out of hand. But unfortunately, sometimes bullying will not stop. As an example, by Sam Florella, “Cyber-Bullying, Social Media, and Parental Responsibility.”The Huffington Post article, what happened to Rebecca Sedwick, of Lank Land, Fla, who jumped from a cement factory tower on September 9th,2013.'' While only two girls were arrested for bullying, which allegedly caused Sedwick to commit suicide, authorities…

Social Media should not allow users under the age of 18. I disagree, Social Media should allow users under the age of 18. Your question to me is why? Well, I have a few reasons on why should they allow user under age. My first reason is because many users have the time to talk to their friends and they can communicate. My second reason is that many users are just nosy and want to see what is going on around the world. My third reason is that many users like to chat and meet new people, or even if their parents don't allow them to talk to their aunties or cousins they can communicate with that person on social media. Having Social Media is a big help to kids when they really want to talk to people they might know.…
