Accountability
Should people be held accountable for their actions? This is a question that people have debated and disagreed on. But the fact is, people should be held accountable for their actions. People putting themselves in harm's way and needing people to get them out is their own fault and should have to pay some type of reparations for search and rescue operations if needed. One example is the story of the boy who swam through the cave. The boy witnessed multiple other boys dive into the water, not reappearing for another minute farther away. He also swam through the dark cave which was extremely dangerous due to the lack of sight and if he didn’t make it he would have drowned with nobody to rescue him. If somebody knew, they would have told his guardian or someone with jurisdiction to stop the boy before he hurt himself for good. Another example is “K” not being aware of the clear environmental warning signs around him. The narrator and “K” went down to the beach to look around. The narrator noticed the water line retreated and did not go back, K was distracted looking at something on the ground. K also didn’t notice the narrator saying he was going to leave since he had a bad feeling about what was happening. Even after the low, deep rumbling sound, K continued to be distracted by something on the ground. Finally, when it was too late and the narrator was running, he finally heard his voice and realized what was happening. K swallowed the wave along with his dog. The narrator saw K one last time as the second wave appeared overhead before disappearing. Ks body was never found. If K were to be found alive, though unlikely, he would probably be scolded and
