Should People In Life Or Death Situations Be Held Accountable For Their Actions?
Should people in life or death situations be held accountable for their actions? I think they should be accountable. The action they choose to do may be the reason they are in the life or death situation. If the reason they are in the life or death situation is not because of their actions then maybe they shouldn't be held accountable. In The Seventh man, the Seventh Man before K was swept up in the wave the seven man was trying to scream to save K’s life. While he was trying to tell to get out of the way the Seven Man didn’t make any sounds as he froze if he was to run he could of saved K. The action his body chose to do cost K his life. He was responsible in the way he was. Even though he was scared of science, he went down to the lake and K came along. The reason that K was down there was because The Seven Man was. Even if it was K’s idea to follow The Seven Man the actions The Seven Man ended up …show more content…
You should take responsibility for what happens while you are doing what you did. Say you decided to go climb a mountain knowing it could be very dangerous if you got stuck on the mountain you would have to call for help and that could be a lot of money just to be saved. If you knew what you were doing it could be a different situation if you got stuck by something you had no control over, but if you knew the mountain was dangerous. If you were with someone and ended up being in a situation where both had to get off and you get out safely an leave them there instead of making sure they make it out safely an if they die it will be on you for not helping them or making sure they will get out When you put the blame on someone saying they did it making you not responsible if you get caught that would make it you responsible for it now form your own action that you could of just took the blame an it would be on you for not helping them or making sure they will get out. of been fine for a

The seventh man should forgive himself for his failure to save K. in the wave. I am sure of this because even tho the seventh man will feel it was his fault, it wasn’t, it was K.’s fault for being out in the dangerous storm in the first place. “Many rescue workers have lost their own lives saving others.” as stated in the story, “The Cost Of Survival”.…

I do believe that a person is not only responsible for his or her own actions but also the repercussion of these actions. If a person isn’t ready to face the consequences then don't take the responsibility. It's the ability to face consequences of the actions that makes a person responsible. Therefore with Lola and Manni having a problem and them taking responsibility of it, they held themselves accountable for their actions. Accidents occur because of a person’s decisions. Of course with the bad choices, it would lead to disastrous costs. A person’s decision leads to another thing, it acts like a domino effect. Thus people are held responsible for their own…

He had lost his childhood friend, Kal, in a giant wave. They were on a nearby beach exploring. Suddenly, the seventh man noticed the winds picking up and decided it was time to take shelter again. He had called out to Kal, but Kal didn’t seem to notice. After repeated attempts Kal had heard him, but it was unfortunately too late. The wave had swallowed up both of them. After a few days the seventh man woke up in hospital. Fortunately a neighbor had seen what happened and took care of him. No one ever found his friend Kal however. The seventh man eventually healed. Not from his fear of what happened on that beach though. He moved away and never wanted to come back to his childhood town. “I stayed away from my hometown for over 40 years.” ( Murakami, pg 141). One day he decided he needed to go back. He went to the beach and suddenly wasn’t afraid anymore. He swayed in the water and let the waves wash every fear he had still inside of him. Even though the seventh man felt he could’ve saved his friend, it still had to happen. Kal was put here to help the seventh man learn how to let go of things and not to fear them. If God should let it happen to you, there must have been an important…

Personal responsibility is an essential element in every aspect of one’s life. What exactly does personal responsibility mean; the answer is most likely different for everyone. Chuck Gallozzi may have summed it up best when he stated, “Responsibility is not a burden, it is a blessing” (Gallozzi, 2009, title page). Those nine simple words speak volumes in that taking responsibility or holding oneself accountable, answerable, for their actions or inactions, accepting the consequences that result from those actions or inactions and most important, understanding the effect one has on family, friends, loved ones, coworkers, and classmates. Gallozzi went on to say, “No, we are not responsible for all that happens to us, but we are responsible for how we think, feel and act when they happen” (Gallozzi, 2009, Para 1).…

It's not every day where you need to make crucial decisions in a split second, where someone's life or your own life could be at stake depending on your decisions. In moments of extreme measures, the human psyche will change, and his or her instincts will start to kick in and sometimes it will override rational thoughts. In these types of situations, the idea of accountability gets tangled with survival instincts, causing the situation to not be so black and white, which gives us the gray area of whether people should be held accountable or not. People in life or death situations should not be held accountable for their actions or any mishaps that may happen, because when people are in critical situations their own life is their first priority…

We do things because we are so minded; our acts are the results of our thoughts and judgments. Clearly, the effects of an action correspond to the thoughts that caused the action, so when we do a thing wrongly we can only blame the judgment that led us to it. We shall no longer blame family, neighbor or fortune for causing our ills once we freely admit that we alone are responsible for our actions and not anything outside of…

Being held accountable for your actions you did in a life-or-death situation is as mindless as somebody going to jail for something they didn’t do. So people when in a life-or-death situation should not be held responsible for what they do for survival because in order to survive, people must do what they need in order to survive. To start, if people were to be held accountable, people in a life-or-death situation would just end up dead because they wouldn’t want to do anything because it would cost them to do so. By way of illustration, in “ The Cost of Survival”, the author says, “ when people believe that they are going to receive a large bill for an SAR mission, they delay a call for help or they refuse to call for help. People will end…

Another example of a legal perspective where people are accountable for their actions is not paying taxes. When someone is caught, the best thing that will happen is that that person will be required to repay all of the taxes plus interest and penalties. Depending on how old the tax debt is, this could double the amount of taxes that that person owes. The worst-case scenario is that the person will be prosecuted for tax…

Imagine a person getting into a life-or-death situation, forced to make split decisions to ensure their survival. When people get into that situation, every decision is crucial. People call for help when in a situation for their life, but getting help from other people can put them at risk or they have to face a consequence because they have to be held accountable to a law. Saying so, that same law can prevent people from calling for help. With that being said, why people in life-or-death situations should not be held accountable for their actions because people do not wish to get themselves in a life-or-death situation and it would be too difficult to hold people accountable The first reason people shouldn’t be held accountable in life-or-death situations is because people don’t want to get into them.…

If the Seventh Man hadn't of been so afraid of what he saw coming, he could have ran up to where K. was and gotten his attention by pulling on him or something like that, even though K. was in a trance by something the seventh man still could have saved him. Then again if The Seventh Man would have ran to save K. he would have been risking his own life, and i don't think that many of us in that sudden moment would stop to think about running up to save your friend when your own life is at risk, would…

An example where this point can be made valid in our society is through the following; if a man is having a heart attack, and you walk past, it is not your fault that this man has the decency to have a heart attack in a public area, it is not my problem, thus I shall not help him or get medical help. Just by saying this, it is clear to see how wrong it is to say this. It’s not your parents fault that you failed a test, but they help you with it, they help you see the problems you have created and how to fix them.…
