If a sports team generates more money, then athletes will be paid more. People would think teachers or firefighters should be paid more, but neither of those jobs is making as much money as a sports franchise. So if a sports team makes a lot of money, then it can pay more to its players. There are more people, who go to professional sports games than there are people, who use their money for school or hospital bills. Athletes are put under contract, which means they have to do other activities other than play in games. They also have to meet with the press and with their local community. Also people pay a lot of money to see a professional sports game because of the entertainment it provides and the excitement you get from experiencing something like that. Athletes are proof that, by working hard and stretching your limits, people can create opportunities for themselves. An ESPN article regarding Magic Johnson’s foundation and an interview with Chris Paul states, “Magic is just a symbol for excellence in giving back and impacting the community,” he said. “What better role model could I

Some people believe that professional athletes are not paid enough; however not having a salary cap could hurt sports tremendously. According to James B, a writer for Teen Ink, “Basically, most professional athletes are paid massive salaries so that they don’t complain or go on strike.” The athletes aren’t just getting paid for their skill, but also keeping them happy and to make sure they don’t leave. Even though college athletes receive many luxuries they still have to make there own living and support themselves. As reported by “Pay or Scholarship” written by Teengagement, it states, “Athletes are employees because they work under the control of the college.” As many people know a business has employees, if an athlete can be considered an employee to the college shouldn't they be paid like and employee? Does $5.15 million per year sound like a lot? Yes, this is an average NBA basketball players annually wage. This may sound like a lot of money but many people say the military should make this much too. This is not possible. Our military gets paid from tax income of the country. The United States gets $3.7 trillion in income tax. If you divided that among all the soldiers and pay them what pros get paid, this is how much it would be. It would be 7.8063324e+12, that's a lot. My main three reasons for thinking pros should get paid more than soldiers are not enough money, just as much training, and they get paid from different sources. Athletes get paid from millions of fans ,and military gets paid from the United States defense budget.…

College athlete salary has been a controversial issue for many years. Many debate that they do not need a salary and that all they need is the scholarship that they were given to get into the school. At the same time people argue that they need compensation for putting their bodies and careers on the line, they bring in lots of profit for the school, and need money moving forward in their professional career and in life after college. Kevin Ware, guard for the 2013 NCAA men’s basketball national champion Louisville Cardinals, is a prime example of athletes putting their bodies and potentially their careers on the line for their school. In the elite eight round of the NCAA tournament against the No. 2 ranked Duke, with Louisville up by one point with Duke in possession of the ball, one of the Duke players attempts a three point shot and Ware jumps to block it and lands awkwardly.…

Over the years, college athletic programs have been a growing business for colleges to make insane amounts of money. Being a player at a Division I university can be an emotionally fulfilling experience; however, universities see it as an opportunity to profit more than multi-million dollar companies.
