Should Seniors Have Senior Privileges
In the past, my high school gave more privileges to the seniors, although they have taken the privileges away from the seniors every year one by one. Currently, the only privileges seniors have over the underclassmen are leaving five minutes early for lunch and having the senior courtyard for lunch. We believe seniors should have more privileges or benefits than the school gives to us. After EHS took away senior privileges like going off-campus for lunch and leaving class five minutes early, students rebelled and started to sneak out for lunch saying they have Career Center or GHS third block. Although the administration started to notice the students coming back after thirty minutes, the students started to be dismissed to continue going off-campus for lunch. The problem with not leaving class early is that students began sneaking out of class and detention numbers increased because sneaking out is not allowed. The senior class can relate to this issue and would like to go off-campus for lunch and leave class five minutes early. The future upcoming seniors would also like the same privileges. The current seniors have looked forward to senior …show more content…
Although high school students normally disregard the administration’s safety concerns one of the purpose of being a senior is to understand safety before they enter the real world. Although safety is a current issue we believe seniors are capable of being careful and influencing the underclassmen of being cautious. EHS may be responsible for the students during the day; we believe that students and parents can sign a permission slip where if the student gets in a wreck while out for lunch then EHS will not be responsible for any injuries. We believe seniors understand that going out for lunch is a privilege and if there are any complaints or problems the student’s privileges can will revoked at any point of

My goal in this functional area is to keep children safe at all times by supervising them constantly and establishing class rules that will help children stay safe. The class rules related to this functional area will be walk in the classroom, keep your hands to yourself, and stay in the classroom at all times. I will teach children why these class rules are so important as well. In addition to these rules I will teach my students basic safety measures like stranger danger, only cross the road with an adult, and only leave the classroom with an adult. I will also inspect my student’s outdoor and indoor environments before the children come in, in the morning and throughout the day as the children participate in activities. It is important to inspect these places because children can be injured by broken toys and playground equipment. It is also important to teach children these basic safety measures because children don’t always understand how dangerous some of the things they do are.…

I believe that high schools should have open lunches. Students should be able to leave the school grounds and go to a fast food restaurant, or, if they choose should at least be able to go outside and eat. Students need to have a small break from school during the day, even if they are outside, they still can take their minds off of school work for a while. Students need to have fresh air and adequate sunlight. Fresh air and sunlight is a proven fact to help students in their studies and it also helps the students concentrate more. I understand that the school staff would not like the fact that the students would be able to leave campus without supervision. Are not the students in high school? Should we not have the responsibility to be able…

Every high school senior is given certain "privileges" that the underclassmen are not. There have been complaints about whether or not seniors should be entitled to these privileges or not. The answer to this complaint is, yes, seniors are very entitled to their privileges. The expectations for students have increased considerably over the years, making reaching senior year less common for students than it used to be. Any student that has been able to withstand the stress of high school for 4 (or in some cases more) years is more than entitled to a few privileges. The privileges themselves are not anything huge in the first place. The seniors are dismissed a few minutes before the underclassmen before their lunch and at the end of the day. They are also given up…

As previously stated, you may believe that is would be impossible to control who is leaving the campus. But as stated on the newspaper website for Legacy High School, “If the district insists on maintaining their rule enforcement philosophy, they can allow students over the age of 18 to sign a waiver for themselves, and let younger student-drivers in both the junior and sophomore class have the option of letting their parents sign one for them. Anyone without a waiver would fall under the current closed campus rule. This solution would allow students with permission to have off-campus lunch.” This allows the school to control and supervise anyone who would want to leave the school grounds for lunch. If a student without a waiver were to leave there would be a punishment such as detention. And anyone who breaks rules with a waiver, such as…
