Many people around the nation have different views on the subject of juvenile justice. Some believe that despite the children's age, they should still be tried as an adult if a serious crime is committed. On the other hand, some believe children should not be tried as adult even if they commit a rather serious crime. I firmly that these children should not be sentenced to life in prison despite the serious crime that they have committed and should have another shot at life when their brain is fully developed.…

Typically, juveniles who display a propensity for committing crime will continue to do so, even as they get older. Their crimes may even become more serious in nature. Therefore, teens that commit heinous crimes should be punished for their obnoxious behavior. In “Juvenile Doesn’t Deserve Life Sentences” by Gail Garinger, he states that “a juvenile doesn’t deserve life in prison because most teens haven’t reached their full maturity”.…

Everyone has the right to a second chance , a chance to make changes , a chance to learn from every mistake that is or was made. In article “Juveniles Don't deserve life sentences” by Gail Garinger postulates , “An overwhelming majority of young offenders grow out of crime.”. Most of the juveniles that make heinous as they grow up, they grow out of the mentality that they had once the crime was committed. Why not give them a chance to show that they have mature and that there mentality isn't the same?. Also Gail Garinger believes that “...it is impossible at that time of sentencing for mental health professionals to predict which youngster will fall within that majority and grow up to be productive, law-abiding citizens and which will…

Juvenile receives crucial punishment, how could you give a twelve year old sentenced to life without possibility of parolo. Now that is just heartless to do something like that to a juvenile. The reason for juvenile being tried as adult is what happened in the 80s and 90s, many juvenile were in gangs and causing tremendous crime making the crime rate raise for the younger generation.…

A teenager should not be tried on the same level as an adult, if they can not do things an adult does. Juveniles are too young and know little about the world; therefore, they should not receive the harsh punishment that adults are being given. Since we are the parents of our kids “It’s why they can’t smoke, or drink, or go to R movies without our OK” (Lundstrom). Adults are lot older, intelligent, mature than teens; therefore, they should not be tried on the same level as adults. Although minors have some knowledge their brains are not matured like adults to make right and wrong decisions. It goes far as beyond to saying teens will not know what they did wrong until they are told. In the article “Juveniles Don’t Deserve Life Sentences” Gail Garinger states, “Brain imaging studies reveal that the regions of the adolescent brain responsible for controlling thoughts, actions and emotions are not fully developed. They cannot be held to the same standards when they commit terrible crimes.” This shows that teenagers are not capable of making decisions and they can not control what they do, even if it is wrong they will not know. Teens should not be charged as adults for the crimes they…

Juveniles shouldn't get sentenced to life without parole for committing a crime at a young age. A punishment is necessary but, sentenced to life without parole at a young age is devastating. Why should they even continue to live? They are young and deserve a second chance to rehabilitate. All we do is just throw these kids in prison and forget about the. What these kids need is treatment especially, those raised in violet environments. Sometimes they grow up unaware of what's good or bad. It may not be there fault. I'm not stating that they don't deceive a punishment, what the need is a punishment but also the support of a person.…

There are many laws that specifically prohibit teen and adolescent under the age of 18 from doing many things and are there to “protect” us. There is always a punishment when they are broken. The same should apply, if a juvenile is to commit a heinous crime like homicide or first-degree murder, they should be tried and sentenced for the crime. Therefore, I do agree that juveniles should be tried as an adult when they commit the same crimes as that of an adult.…

I think that juveniles should not be sentenced to life in prison because they're still kids and their brain is not fully developed. Its also not there fault that they grew up in a bad neighborhood and they weren’t raised the right way. Juveniles are also young enough to rehabilitate themselves and learn from their mistakes. There are two separate justice systems for a reason and that's because juveniles are simply kids, not adults so they should not be sentenced to life in…

For the people who said that they should be tried as adults, they believe that juveniles should be held responsible for their actions, that juveniles are not kids that they are young adults, and that by forgiving the juvenile for the crime they did, would just make them think their actions are okay. For the people who think that juveniles should not be tried as adults, they believe that juveniles are physically incapable of thinking like an adult, therefore should not be treated like one. Both sides have valid points in backing up their reasoning’s. I think it is important to look at both sides of the arguments before deciding if you think juveniles should be tried as adults or…

Some people might think sentencing juveniles to life without parole change them but it is totally wrong because punishment does only little change to behavior. Juveniles don’t deserve to spend the rest of their lives in a prison because they are still young and they can be rehabilitated in the future. Many actions of juveniles depend on their family life, like how they are treated and raised. Also youths are different qualitatively from what people think will become in the future. (“Juveniles should be sentenced to life without parole”). If we blame everything on the juveniles, it is not right because most of children’s actions are based on their family life. It is also meaningless if we keep doing the same thing over and over again when we know that it doesn’t work in a way that we want it to…

Should juveniles who commit adult offence like murder, rape and armed robbery etc. be charged or dealt with as an adult? The primary difference in dealing with a juvenile meaning a person that is 18 years or younger the goal is not to punish the juvenile, but rather rehabilitate, is that fair? Or is society as a whole are guilty and to blame for forsaking the future generation? The juvenile offences are skyrocketing at an alarming rate that it is hard to view the graphic and horrific crimes of the juvenile as being anything but civil or delinquent, especially when the juvenile is committing bloody murder.…

Juveniles are considered juveniles and should be given juvenile punishment unless it's for something inhumane, such as murder. The United States of America has the highest teen murder rate out of every country. The reason is due to guns being easy to get, the amount of violence they see today, and the T.V. programs shown. The 2012 Supreme Court decision to abolish mandatory life in prison for juveniles who commit murder was not a just decision, because teens should know better. They're old enough to know murder is wrong. Our country should give teens the punishment they deserve for the crime they commit. Murder deserves a life sentence whether a juvenile or grown adult.…
