In 2009 drivers aged 15-24 were involved in 112 fatal traffic crashes. 755 were serious injury crashes. 15-23 year old drivers were at fault for 1.3 billion dollars. Teens are more likely to take risk with their friends looking on. Some teens have the emotional maturity of an adult twice his or her age. Drivers 15-24 who have been awake for 17 hours or longer have the driving ability of a drunk driver.
80% of people want the legal driving age to be raised to 18 or higher. A survey found that 2300 people found 74% would like the driving age raise to 20.
