Life is getting more expensive and people have to gain more money for their life styles. Working people lives in the paycheck of the minimum wage. A Minimum wage is the minimum an employer has to pay an unskilled worker based on the regulations set forth by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) that was originally established in 1938. Over the years there has been much debate about raising the federal minimum wage. Some are against and some are in favor in raising the minimum wage. The United States should raise the Federal Minimum Wage to help people to afford education, help the poor, and decrease the hours of work. tuition has increased drastically in the past twenty years. In 1978, a student who worked a minimum wage job all summer could pay for 1 year university, with enough leftover to cover 50% of room and board. Today, a student would have to work another 4 ½ months at minimum wage just to cover tuition and fees. In other words, a minimum wage job used to be enough to cover the cost of college. Although 30 years ago college students may have paid their tuition by working part time, summer or minimum wage jobs, today it’s impossible. Now that students have to pay the high cost of their education and can cause many negative things. One is that students be indebted and most of their life will need to pay. They need to work a lot to pay their debt and also study to keep their grade up. Thus, this also affect the economy of United States because of all the debts they are. However, if the story change and the government raise the federal minimum wage then the student could work less and have good grades. Also the debts in student decrease and the economy could be better without all this debts.

A rise in minimum wage is good for the working class were they depend on it to raise their family. In today's world people having to work two jobs or more to sustain their family. For example, a single working adult with two children earning the federal minimum wage of $7.25 and working full-time earns about $14,500 a year, well below the U.S. poverty threshold of $19,073 for a family of this size. Furthermore, As the world is getting more expensive raising a family alone is very difficult. There are different families and all have their different problems. By raising the minimum wage would help workers to rise their family. The number of homeless people are increasing and more people that once were in middle class are going to a lower class. This changes is affecting the economy and are living people homeless. However, if the minimum wage is raised it could help a lot of families who are or about to be homebles. Raising the minimum wage is beneficial to people and also the economy. There be more working people and their be no more homeless people. This could eliminate one of the big problems facing America today.
