Should The Government Raise Minimum Wage?

The government should not raise the minimum wage.Nothing good can come from raising the minimum wage. And if any good comes from it will be cancelled out by all the bad. As unfortunate as it sounds, raising the minimum wage will cause a drop in the job market. If a major retailer had to raise their wages for their workers they would have to get the money from somewhere. That means a raise in the price of goods and the laying off of positions that could be replaced by automated systems. The repercussion of this is an increase in Demand and a lowering of Supply. This means along with the minimum wage increasing, so would the expenses associated with living. There would be an increase in the price of goods and services. A job Shortage would
lead to a higher crime rate and poverty. Another part of this argument is the fact that minimum wage is not meant to be enough to sustain a person. This leads them to do their job to the best of their ability and get them a promotion. The idea is that a person will continue to progress in their field of work in order to increase their means of living.
