Should We Serve In The Military
We as Americans should make a rule to serve at least two or three years in the US military to show our love, dedication, and trust to the land and soil we live on. I believe that we are all equal, and we should all have the same rights but at the same time I believe that everybody that lives on US soil should all serve a couple years to all be equal and have the same rights. If every person served in the US Military we would not be having some of the problems that the news is putting out today. For example, when the news put pictures out of US citizens disrespecting, and stepping on the American Flag! Personally I believe those people need to be kicked out of this country, the rule should be if you disrespect this country then get out.

I do not agree with the reinstitution of a military draft. In 1973 the military draft was lifted in the United States and with good reason. The United States should not rely on a draft to fill military vacancies but rely on recruitment. It is true that the military offers incentives and luxuries that some civilians could not afford otherwise such as food, shelter, and medical care. However, they are just that, incentives. The military is an option and should remain that way. Many enlist for different reasons, some with economical reasons, others with strong political urges, but they enlist out of their own desires, beliefs, and more importantly, free will. Some see the military as a way of life; others see it as the only way to educate themselves in a society where education is valued so highly. With rising tuition costs, many enlist in the reserves as a guarantee for their degree. College is costly and even with the aid of tuition assistance and can leave a graduate drowning in debt. These are all choices all college bound 18-25 year olds make and some just do not have the luxury of choosing.…

Do you think we need a military draft? I think that we do not need a military draft. There are no good reasons why we should possibly throw are life away when we don't want to. There are many good reasons against a military draft as you will read later, but first I will explain what a military draft is in case you don't know. A military draft is a way to fill in the areas where volunteering doesn't fill and when you get a license you have a number that goes with you and during a draft there will be random numbers chosen and if your number is called then you will have to serve in the military, but for only for one term unless you want to stay longer.…

Veterans are men and women who have fought to protect our right to be free. These people put their lives on the line; risking the loss of bones, organs or even memory. These are extraordinary human beings if I say so myself. They deserve to be treated like royalty, yet more than 67% of the homeless population have served for our country for at least than 3 years. 47% of them served in the Vietnam War. This goes to show how “united” the United States really is.…

    reinstating the draft

As of today, the military has a volunteer service only as its profile. As stated in a Farlex dictionary a military volunteer is “a person who freely enlists for service”. Any american citizen over 18 can volunteer for any branch regardless of gender, ethic, or religion. Other than soldiers, doctors, lawyers, scientists and a wide range of other careers are recruited and used in the military. The volunteer system supports the Declaration of Independence's phrase of guaranteeing citizens the right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” by giving Americans the freedom of choice to chose to serve the country, or live about freely. The majority of America doesn't like the idea of having a draft introduced again, since it doesn’t exactly fit the phrase of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”, in all aspects of citizens trying to achieve the “American Dream”. Though the majority of citizens is…

We Should Not Reinstate the Draft I would never have come to think that I would need the military draft to be reinstated but I think it will be beneficial to our country. It's been years since they have wanted or needed a draft, but in view of the United States being attacked on September 11, 2001, I feel our country must be prepared and prepared to defend itself. If being prepared means reinstating the draft, a compulsory summons for military service, then I think they ought to think about this a reasonable proposal. I think the tragic events of September 11 will evoke most people to agree with me. Since September 11 they have seen a surge of patriotism in this country that appeared hidden for plenty of years. I am so glad patriotism was not…

“… When young women wonder how high they can rise in our military, they can look at General Ann Dunwoody and her four hard earned stars. They can see that it's real. When they ask what kind of jobs they can do, they can look to women like all of you who've played just about every kind of role imaginable. And when they ask whether they can cut it -- whether they have what it takes to succeed -- all they have to do is to look at your lives, to look into your lives and to look at the careers that you've developed that inspire us all," the US First Lady Michelle Obama stated addressing women in combat (Moving History Forward). I greatly agree to her statement because women have not been given combat roles in the military. Women have served in the United States army but in the roles not given to men. I highly support the lifting of the ban on women in military. President Barrack Obama has oversaw the lifting of the ban to ensure more women serve in the military. Women are fit enough to serve in combat roles that are demanding and of specialty. I will address the reasons why women…

In some countries, every young person must serve two years of military service. The general public in the United States feels that we should allow that in our country while other people disagree. A two-year period of military service should be mandatory for all young adults, but making the devotion to serving that time in the military should be each individual’s decision. Personally, young adults should be able to live their lives of how they want it, and other mature people should be able to volunteer for the military. Each individual should be able to make their own choices in life and not be forced to do something they strongly disagree with. Granting opportunities to young and mature people will help the military enlist a mature recruit, strengthen the military clan, and attract even more people to join in the military. We should be able to grant choices to the young and mature adults and respect their decision.…

With Veteran’s Day coming around the corner I decided to write about why veterans should be respected in our country. Some people believe that we shouldn’t have as big as an army or just that they don’t like veterans because they were in a war. This should be different. Those soldiers didn’t choose the war they were going to fight in they go out and fight for our country with everything that they have. These soldiers should be respected because of their courage, loyalty, respect.…

The draft can be a great way rehabilitate the country’s petty criminals to become better citizens. From the start of just training, all draftees and enlisted troops will be disciplined in training and will continue until they leave the military or better themselves. There experience in the military will not only help them learn multiple skills but it will also show them how fortunate they are. Being paid a stable salary will help these troops keep from crime and provided free education, they can even become greatly educated and better their lives.…

It happens every year in schools all over. There are fairs where high schools present their students with choices that will impact and shape their futures. Some students are sought after by universities, some by athletic programs, and others by employers. There are even career counselors both in high schools and universities to help with this transition. These emerging adults are being offered assistance in making this most important decision: “What will I do with the rest of my life?” Should government jobs be an option for these teens? What about the military?…

There are over a million people currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, risking their lives for each and every American citizen, yet people don’t think about this and take their freedom for granted. Let’s take my cousin for example, her husband is in the Marines, and he is currently somewhere over seas. She is now living with my aunt, while he is away, with their one year old son. He has missed almost the entire second year of his son’s life to protect the citizens of this country, but the things is, the people they are fighting for…

There is not as much pride as there used to be though. When I think of pride I think of dignity and importance, and being proud. If we did not have pride then everything would not be the same. There is a difference between the men and women who served a long time ago and the ones who serve now. There is different timing, different reasons and agendas, for why there is pride. It all comes down to knowing and seeing that you are a part of a larger organization and that you are making a difference in in our nation, and in our world. I believe that those in the military now and in the past should be honored with the utmost respect. Because of 9/11 we are at war with terrorism. Many lives have been lost because of terrorism, and also for the fight against it. My grandfather served in WWII, and I greatly respected him. Even at his funeral, he was honored for serving when my grandmother was given a flag. This made our whole family very proud.…
