Shouldn T School Start Later Times?
Schools shouldn’t start at later times. Schools shouldn’t do this because it would push back practice for school sports, parents would have a difficult time getting to work on time, and it’s harder for students to get home safely. If schools start later, students will not have enough time for homework or projects to finish. If they don’t, they’ll have a good amount of time to finish it. Yes, students will get more sleep if school does start later but keeping it the way it is had good reasons why it shouldn’t be pushed back.

Practice for school sports would be pushed back as well. So students would get home later. Also they’d start homework really late and probably finish at a really late time. They also might not be able to eat dinner. According to the text Up for Debate: Should School Start Later, “For one thing, repurposing bus routes to fit the schedule changes would be logistically complicated for school systems. So would pushing back sports practices and other after school programs.” The quote is saying that pushing start time to a later time will result in moving practices back. This will also result in moving back bus routes.

According to Up for Debate: Should School Start Later, “Many working parents would also have trouble getting to work on time after getting kids on the bus, or to school, up to an hour later than usual.” So the quote is saying that working parents would get their kids and themselves to their destination about an hour later. Students would possibly get a tardy to

Most parents have to go to work before their kids wake up, so that they wouldn’t be able to make a big breakfast in time or at all. Many benefits would come from moving the start time to a later time. One issue with schools’ early start time is that students become sleep deprived. A teenages normal circadian sleep rhythm is they won’t fall asleep before 11 PM and they some have to be up by 5:00 or 6:00 AM to get ready and to be at school on time (npr). This is causing students to not get the healthy 8-10 hours of sleep that they need.…

Most schools start before 8:00 a.m. which causes the students to feel weary or drowsy during the school day. That provokes the idea of them not being able to be as successful in school as well as get them injured or hurt more often and easily. The article “The Teen Who Woke Up Her School”, the video “Later School Start Time Has Surprising Results” and the infographic “Wake Up Call” all support the idea of schools starting at a later time. Schools must start the day at a later time than before 8:00 a.m. because that will improve the student’s overall academic/mental and physical performances during and outside of school.…

Which is hard sense some of their transportation is relied on the buses or the case of their parents pulling them out of school to make sure they get to where they need to be at the specific time. I know after school I have do home work chores, which it takes almost a hour and half just to do it. Also on Wednesday I attend a therapy class with my friend; so I can give moral support her and also so I cant talk about my feeling/ problems as well. Second reason that school shouldn't start later is a horrible choice to make is because it limits the amount of time that we can do homework at home. Every night about 50 percent of my time is devoted on doing my homework and studying for any up coming tests.…

I will explain more about why i chose this topic. I did some research and i found out that adults start work at around 8:00 a.m. and their children go to school at about 7:30. So if the child is going to school at 7:30 then the parent still has enough time to make sure the child gets to school on time and enough time to worry about their jobs. The parent is able to take…

Studies also show that common arguments against later start times ring hollow. In hundreds of districts that have made the change, students do not have a harder time fitting in after-school activities such as sports or in keeping part-time jobs. “Once these school districts change, they don't want to go back,” Wahlstrom says.…

The youth would significantly benefit from school starting two hours later. They would be able to get a suitable amount of sleep. If school started at nine thirty it would cause the bus to arrive at nine and give you at least two more hours of sleep. Waking up at six just so you can catch the bus at seven is such a struggle. Teenagers are not the only people who need more sleep; Bus drivers also need a well rested night. Bus drivers have long routes that they drive in the dark, early mornings. When kids walk to school it is dark, not all drivers are completely awake and alert. If it isn’t dark when school start the youth would be safer walking or riding their bikes to school. Starting school later would help the transportation intensely.…

Teens would get more sleep, it could be safer and students might not have to rush at night when they do homework and get a lot of it wrong. So why should not school start later? Though starting school earlier is easier for some people, teens need more than 8 hours of sleep each night, but can not control how much they sleep, teens that do not get enough sleep at night become sleep deprived which can cause mental health problems, and the lack of sleep a teen gets affects their academic performance. Ultimately, it is up to the school board whether schools should start early or later, rather than the students and parents, but a late school start would help…

Changing school times does not only affect the children, but affects other people as well. According to Elizabeth Baroni (2004), Fred Danner and Barbara Phillips (2008), earlier start times may result in fewer hours of sleep, as students may not fully compensate for earlier rising times with earlier bedtimes. If the counties change the school times, it will result in changing the times that after school activities start and end. In the winter, it gets darker earlier which results in children having their after school activities in the dark. Children will not be able to spend much time with family because of the times that they will be occupied with homework and school. Not only will students have less time, but teachers as well will not have much time to grade since of the school time.…

The first detail that supports the claim of school shouldn’t start later is “school shouldn’t start later because the school bus schedules are arranged to meet the needs of mot one school but all the schools in the district.” I know that if school started later that the district’s transportation would have to hire more bus drivers and to get more buses which can be very expensive. Many parents wouldn’t have time to take their children to school before work.…
