Why School Should Start Later
Starting school later and ending much later will benefit students. Absolutely not, if they can't wake up early in the morning for school it probably it's because they are staying up all hours of the night. If they change it where we have to start school much later in the day we be getting out much later will take away the time that we we have after school programs, homework time, and then cutting our sleeping time. First of all, starting school later will make it where we have to stay in school later in the day. Which means that afterward we are limited on what we can do after school. For reference, there are students who have job, appointments, or other activities they have to attend to. Which they cant do it if they are leaving school much later. Which is hard sense some of their transportation is relied on the buses or the case of their parents pulling them out of school to make sure they get to where they need to be at the specific time. I know after school I have do home work chores, which it takes almost a hour and half just to do it. Also on Wednesday I attend a therapy class with my friend; so I can give moral support her and also so I cant talk about my feeling/ problems as well. Second reason that school shouldn't start later is a horrible choice to make is because it limits the amount of time that we can do homework at home. Every night about 50 percent of my time is devoted on doing my homework and studying for any up coming tests. Even if I do finish my homework in class, I do make sure at home I study for about hours longer so i can have the information down packed in my head . Which it be harder to do if we get out later cause of that and then I have other stuff I need to do. Last but not least, if you more teenagers put themselves on a sleeping schedule they would have no problem on waking up in the morning for school. About 15 percent of students has a bed time; where 85 percent don't have a

How would you feel if you woke up every morning around 6 or 7 a.m. for nearly 180 days a year? How would you feel if I said you had to do that for about 12 years or so? Would you say it sounded tiring and challenging? Or would you say you couldn’t do it? If you agreed with any of the questions I just asked, then congratulations, you're now a little closer to having a teen mindset. Typical teenagers have to wake up every school day around 6 a.m. for 12 years in middle and high school. Not only is this virtually not achievable for normal human beings, but it’s also extremely not healthy for their growing bodies. These school start times make students seriously sleep deprived and fall at risk of destructive mental and social behavior. Academic achievement and health also decreases because of these early start times. Also, because most students are going through puberty at this time in their life, their bodies tell them to…

I believe that school should stay the way it currently is. With school the way it currently is students still have time after school. Students will still have time for sports after school and other school related functions. If school started later in the day and ended later students wouldn't have hardly any time after school for things such as sports, socializing, and spending time with there families. After students get up early for a week or so they would get used to it and their bodies would adapt to the change.…

We start at 845 and get out at 345 and most people eat dinner at 5 to 530.That only gives us one hour to do whatever before we need to be home for dinner. If school starts at 7 and gets out at 230 then we would have like 2 and a half hours of free time. In that time it gives more time to do things such as hangout with friends run errands and do homework so we don't have to stay up all night and work on it. If kids wants more sleep and to be rested up all the way for school then they should go to bed early and be responsible.…

This once happened to me, I was waiting to go to preschool at my grandma's but my aunt forgot to pick me up so my mom had to leave work to pick me up and take me to school. If we were to have later school starts then our parents would have to change their schedules for work and their activities after work. If we started school at noon then our parents would have to leave work to take us to school or make sure we got to school on time and that will take time out of their day. Not only that but if we were to start school later and you are a student that likes to do after school activities then they will be much harder for you to do.…

In a report it says, “later start times are associated with reduced television viewing, and increased time spent on homework.” Delaying start times by an hour, increases standardized test by 2 percentile.” (“Do schools begin too early”). It will do everybody good if school boards meet and really discuss how this could help their district. Take, for instance, the case of Wake County, they are the 16th largest school district in the United States with over 146,687 students in all the grades.…

Why School Should Start Later Do you ever wake up and feel miserable, cranky, and so tired you just want to sleep forever. For me and most adolescence this is the case. I strongly feel that school should start later in the day at a time where kids are at their best and so that the can actually learn the things that they are taught. Both teachers and students can benefit if it were to start later. In my opinion it makes more sense to start and 9:30 rather than 8:30 or in some schools earlier.…

First of all, students should be allowed to have a study hall because they will have more time to complete homework. According to Mona Wang, Jenna Troccoli, and Sophie Lyle, a majority of the 17 million high school and junior high students would agree that they want to relax in the afternoon and not spend the day finishing an assignment due the next day. Most students have extracurricular activities after school such as sports, clubs, and activities which need them to stay up later in the night. Having the students stay up, causes them to get less…

Parents of high schoolers say that a later start time would mess with their work schedules; complaining that they would then not be able to leave for work for another hour. High schoolers range from fourteen to eighteen years old, and therefore should be able to stay home an hour without their parents. Coaches and leaders of groups say that it affects extracurricular activities. Even though there would have to be changes to extracurricular activities times, nothing should come before student health, and well being. When a student is sleep deprived they do not perform nearly close to their full potential, and thus not even satisfying their after school…

Students are busy with after school activities and sports. As for student athletes they have after school practices or late practices in which it consumes most of their afterschool time. They have long and hard practices so once it comes to doing homework they feel very tired or exhausted at the end of the day. They finish their assignments late and that adds to the less sleep they get at night. Causing them not to be fully on task or concentrated the next day in class. As well for students that have afterschool jobs they get off school and may have from 1-3 hours before they go to work. That gets them a good start on their homework but then they have to finish once they get off work, most times around 10 or 11 at night. As my point is students are too busy with after school activities and events.…
