In the article that both Peter Norvig and Nicholas Carr wrote, which is, Is Google Making Us Stupid? it says, “By considering a wide range of information, we can arrive at more creative and informed solutions. Internet users are more likely to be exposed to a diversity of new ideas.” But, in reality, looking up ideas on the internet and using these ideas requires not thought process at all whatsoever. On top of not having to think, you are basically taking someone else's ideas and saying it was your idea. Students might as well not think anymore if they were going to just copy some ideas and use them without thinking.
Looking at all of the information on the effects of being on the internet or your phone too often (distractions), and having your students being able to think deeply, would you consider doing “Shut Down Your Computer Week”? If we don’t act quickly, then all of the students won’t have an understanding on why they shouldn’t be on their phones all of the time.
