Significan Culture Research Paper
There are a number of reasons why culture differs from one place to another; I believe a major reason is the environment. Environment by definition is the conditions that surround someone or something; the conditions and influences that affect the growth, health, progress, etc., of someone or something. An example of this is climate or location; in a warmer climate in the south you are going to have farmers growing different types of crops compared to ones in north. The growing seasons are also going to be different and the amount of daylight is also different. So as you can see they are going to have to adjust everyday life in order to be successful farmers. Another example I would say is wealth whether it is personal or the wealth of the community or nation. If you compare the wealth of a town in the United States to the wealth of town in Zambia there will be many cultural differences. A …show more content…
These changes can be major or minor changes within society that occur over a length of time. Slavery for example; there were so many things leading up to this major change within the Unites States from war to legislation. At that time in the Untied State and many part of the world slavery was an accepted form of labor and time went of the way people thought about slavery began to change. This change was over the course of many decades eventually ending with the abolishment of slavery. Another example of culture changing over time is the way we farm. These changes occur from the way plow fields are plowed going from a horse with a small plow, which would take days to plow a small field to a massive multi-ton tractor that can do the same job within minutes. The innovations with in the farm industry have eliminated many small farms and progressed into ones that take up hundreds of thousands of

The research article about the Nacirema culture focused on a heavily religious society. In which the indualives shape their whole lives around it. Most people in the culture have at least one shrine dedicated to their physical health. It’s custom for all of the household members to pray to the shrine at least once a day. Praying is a secluded activity in the Nacirema culture and it is believed to reinforce the individual’s relationship with the divine. There is a major emphasis on the mouth and how it relates to a person’s social interaction and relationships. Over the course of a couple hundred years, many things can change, and surprisingly, some will stay constant. Take East Asia for example, between 1200 CE and 1400 CE the region was under the rule of three different dynasties (Song, Yuan, and Ming). Between 1492 and 1750, culture was spread through the Atlantic World (Western Europe, Western Africa, and the Eastern Americas) through trade and socialization. These interactions caused socio economic transformation due to the introduction of new crops, weapons, and even slavery, which was, at the time, the most prominent form of labor; however there were several continuities.…

Many of the problems now and in time have been the product of someone stereotyping someone else for being “different” than they are. It can be based off the pigmentation of one’s skin, the religious differences between people, but more often than not, it is because of the class a person falls into economically. Class is a system that distinguishes people by the amount of money a person makes, or that is what class is supposed to be. We often see the upper-class portrayed as educated, clean, and powerful people as opposed to the lower-class who are seen as dirty, lazy, and powerless individuals. The way the media stereotypes the economic classes makes a class seem like a culture instead of an economic standing. In many cases, us individuals allow those stereotypes to become who we are.…

When I was a child I remember a lot about where I lived and was raised, and where I came from. You can have negative or positive influences in your environment as part of your culture and development. They do however play an important role in the development and lives of infants and toddlers. Different cultural factors can have a lifetime effect on infants and toddlers development. Culture is the beliefs, customs, arts and such of a particular society, group, place, or time. (Merriam-Webster. 2014) It can also be made of social behaviors along with non-traditional customs. A child is raised to carry on the beliefs of their culture and their parents. For example, if a parent is a social butterfly and very involved, then that child will grow being social. The more stimulating the child’s environment is the more they will learn. I have a picture from my childhood that is, in my opinion, a perfect poem (Dorothy Law Nolte, Ph.D. 1972):…

As a white working class female living in Canada, I have a culture that, although has unique traditions, is largely similar to the stereotype of “North American Culture.” My race would be considered Caucasian as I fit the generic physical traits associated with that race. Culture and race have different meanings and implications and therefore affect people in different ways. Culture is a collection of beliefs, traditions, arts, and other works associated with a group of people. Race is a group of people that are considered similar because of biological characteristics. Race is often thought of in terms of skin colour, but can also be associated with other genetic traits. The lines between race and culture are often blurred because race can be considered a group of people with a shared history or nationality and culture would stem from that history and geographic location.…
