Similarities Between Romeo And Juliet
There's a debate on who loves each other more. The debate comes from the story Romeo and Juliet. In my opinion Juliet loved Romeo more for many multiple reasons. I always think us girls always go the extra mile for the guys. I'm going to state reasons why I think Juliet loved Romeo more. Before it was Romeo and Juliet it was Romeo and Rosaline which that was Juliet's cousin. The Capulets were having a party and Benvolio suggests crashing the party so that Romeo can see that the other women are more beautiful than Rosaline is. That's where Romeo and Juliet met and the story started. When Romeo first saw Juliet he said these exact words forswear it, sight, for I ne'er saw true beauty till this night. Hmm, this is inserting. Romeo forgets all about his "love" for Rosaline the exactly second he see's Juliet, which makes us think that he was never really in love with Rosaline to begin with. Romeo and Juliet continue their exchanges and they kiss, but they are interrupted by the nurse. In her absence, Romeo asks the nurse who Juliet is and on …show more content…
Juliet yearns for night to fall so that Romeo will be able to come. " Juliet says that it ha been 3 hours since the wedding" ("thy three hours wife"). Juliet avoided marrying the prince because she loved Romeo and already was married to him. So Juliet came up with a plan that she was going to drug herself so she wouldn't marry the prince. Juliet took the drug a day early which means that the information in Friar Laurence's letter to Romeo is now wrong. As Romeo muses on love, Balthasar, Romeo's servant arrives with news: Juliet is dead. Balthasar saw her laid to rest in the Capulet tomb. Romeo 's dream is the opposite that what happens. Rather then to bring him back to life, Juliet kisses his lips to try to join his death. However, in spite of the many differences, there are similarities between the two stories. Romeo and Juliet and “Teen Couple Executed by their Parents…for daring to fall in love,” both involve the deaths of the couples all happening at a young age, all of them dying before the age of 19 before any of their parents died. Throughout both stories a common factor is that the couples were forced to make adult decisions about their lives and love lives; while, the adults around them were making many poor decisions. Unlike many love stories where the strong, handsome male saves the damsel in distress, the female protagonists in both of these stories appeared to be stronger than their male counterparts. Maybe that is why when the time came, both mothers…

Romeo And Juliet is an amazing play written by the all knowing William Shakespeare. It is a love story/tragedy that includes the two lovebirds Romeo and Juliet. They are from two different households that are enemies; Romeo is of the Montague family and Juliet is a Capulet. This makes it close to impossible for them to be together especially since Romeo killed Juliet’s cousin Tybalt whom Juliet’s parents loved very much. In the end, the couple ends up killing themselves over their “suicidal love” for each other. Over the course of the play, Romeo was supposedly in love twice. Once with Rosaline and then again of course with Juliet. At the beginning of the play he was infatuated with Rosaline and claimed that he would never get over her and…

At the beginning, Romeo is usually found locked up in his room, crying. He fell in love with a woman named Rosaline but, ‘tragically’, she is not in love with him. This unrequited love throws Romeo in a deep depression. All he ever talked about was his undying love for Rosaline. Love is always on his mind. Keep in mind, he never actually talked to Rosaline, but still fell in love with her simply by looks. Then, he goes to a party and finds Juliet, who is far more beautiful than Rosaline. Again, he falls in love by sight, quickly changing. He announces to the Friar, not only his new love, but their marriage proposal, and Friar responds. Clearly, Romeo is fully encompassed by the love he feels, but quickly changes that moment he finds a better option. By contrast, Juliet does not have love on the front of her mind. When first introduced to Juliet, she is with her mother and Nurse. Her family’s party is that night and her mother wants her to investigate a rich man named Paris, who would like to marry her. She responds. Juliet doesn't fall in love at the drop of a pin. Although later she does fall in love with Romeo quickly, it is only after a bit of courting. Romeo and Juliet, the famous lover, contrast greatly in their…

"Sweet, sweet, sweet nurse, tell me, what says my love?" (RJ 2.5.55) In Zeffirelli's version of Romeo and Juliet, Act 2, Scene 5, Juliet seems bratty and impatient because the nurse fails to deliver the information about Romeo as soon as she walks through the door. Luhrmann made his version more modern, and makes the characters kinder to emphasize their relationship. These movies contain some similarities and differences; they both use some of the same lines, but portray the characters in diffrerent ways and the characters wear different types of costumes.…

Nothing else on his mind, with no other ideas, he could come to only one conclusion, “ If, rather than to marry County Prince, thou hast the strength of will to slay thyself, then is it likely thou wilt undertake a thing like death to chide away this shame… Take this vial, being in bed, and this distilled liquor drink thou off… The roses in thy lips and cheeks shall fade to paly ashes, thy eyes’ windows fall like death when he shuts up the day life”, (Act IV, I, p.4). He gave her a sleeping potion, telling her to drink it before going to bed as she was alone. It was to make her appear as if she were dead. He would then send a messenger to Romeo telling him that Juliet is fine, but he needed to come get her. As it turns out, there was a major outbreak of a plague, resulting in Romeo not receiving the…

Juliet’s parents, Capulet, and Lady Capulet forced Juliet to marry Paris, but Juliet and Romeo were already married. So, Juliet made an excuse to meet Friar Laurence, after meeting him. They made a plan to stop the marriage by giving Juliet a sleeping potion that made her seem like she’s dead, and after she takes it, they would hold a funeral for her. Then, they would put her in the tomb, after that Romeo would receive a letter from the Friar, saying that Juliet is alive and is pretending to be dead, and he should go get her from her tomb and run away to Mantua with her. The next day, the nurse found Juliet “dead”, the Capulet changed everything to hold a funeral, at the same time Friar sends…

Friar Lawrence tells Friar John to send Romeo a letter so that he is aware of Juliet’s fake death. Romeo is ought to visit Juliet and wake her up. However, since the letter is not sent, Romeo actually considers Juliet’s death to be true. In the text it states, “And hire those horses. I’ll be with thee straight. Well, Juliet, I will lie with thee tonight” (Shakespeare 213). This quote indicates that Romeo’s death is arriving and that he will kill himself. Romeo desires to go back to Verona to lie with his dear Juliet. Romeo even purchases a sleeping poison from an apothecary (drug seller). Romeo is fated to believe that Juliet is actually dead and Juliet is ought to wake up and find Romeo dead. By the end of the play, Juliet actually does wake up to find both Paris and Romeo dead. Juliet kisses Romeo to see if he is actually dead, resulting in no reaction from the lifeless and breathless Romeo. Juliet takes a dagger and stabs herself to be with Romeo. The misconception and failure of delivering the letter to Romeo are the final steps that lead to both Romeo and Juliet’s deaths. It is neither Friar Lawrence nor Friar John’s fault for not being able to deliver to letter to Romeo. While trying to send the letter to Romeo, Friar John is shut up in a quarantined house due to an outbreak of plague. Friar John is not to blame for being unable to deliver the letter to Romeo in…

From the beginning of the tragedy, Romeo’s inconstant love with different ladies is expressed. Shakespeare portrays Romeo’s ardent love for the gorgeous Rosaline who refuses to break her vow of chastity to be with Romeo. After discerning Romeo’s depression, his friends, Mercutio and Benvolio, persuade Romeo into going to the Capulet party. There, Romeo instantaneously falls in love with Juliet, a young lady who he has never met before and his infatuation for Rosaline diminishes. The next morning, Romeo goes to Friar Laurence to seek advice on a nuptial with Juliet. Friar Laurence is startled to see that he has quickly moved on from Rosaline to Juliet and responds, “Young men’s love then lies not truly in their hearts, but their eyes” (II, III, 67-68). In other words, Friar Laurence believes that Romeo only loves Juliet for her appearance. He also admonishes Romeo that marrying Juliet will cause devastation but Romeo stubbornly disagrees and proceeds to marry Juliet. Romeo does not realize how quick these events are unfolding and it is a matter of time until he reaches his downfall.…
